When I call to order the block heater, they are asking me whether I want the 1000 or 1500 watt?

    Which one should I get?

    Thank you

Thanks, Jon. That is exactly what I am looking for… Strong, clearly stated opinions.

Jim is on a streak with great photos.

That particular brake style is typical of the caliper found on coaches with drum drive brakes and disk steer and tag brakes.

There are a couple of things to note. The brake chamber shown is a combo, which means it is a service as well as a parking brake. That combo brake chamber would be on the tag axle only.

The grease fittings shown are very NEVER to have grease pumnped into them until it pops out somewhere. Those fittings are to lube the rotating shaft from the slack adjuster and it important to make sure when your bus is lubed that those fittings are to get a very small shot of grease. Nothing more. Excessive grease in those fittings can inhibit brake release. This is one reason why you need to make sure anyone lubing a coach actually knows what they are doing.

Actually I agree with Hector almost 100% of the time, but since he picks on me I have to give him a hard time.

Prevost parts $227 per wheel. plus. Local part # Kit 15625PM $302 for both sides. Going to wait but have option in hand. Odd he had another guy with same problem in just before me. I was actually able to help him to correct tract by the #’s I had brought with me. He had a front froze and was unable to move. Still haven’t found a grease zert others have mentioned. The other guys was on a 2000 Marathon(sp) and set up overnite. Going to prevost site next. For some reason my manual only list pads at end and not calip. Thanks everyone. I should know all the insides of this coach when finished. Bob

a 90 degree die grinder (cheap hf) 1/4 inch drive. Use a velcro (sp) 3 inch pad ,avaliable at body shop supply and they have 1000-1200 and 1500 3M pollishing disc to fit on it. Fits belly next to raised part of rib just rite. Tip turn air pressure down to 60 lb then adjust up or it tends to launch disc. Might be all you need on key scratches. Bob

My 2000 CC didn’t have the auto dump, so I suppose it was an option.

I believe all 45 foot coaches automatically dump tag air (or can have that capability) by virtue of a “cam” from the steering linkage when the steering wheel is turned to the extreme in either direction. My 45 foot 97 had that feature, but in addition there were a limited number of coaches that had “stabilizators” that were actually hydraulic cylinders much like a shock absorber that supported the rear of the coach when the tag axle air was dumped. I know my 97 coach had that feature, Hector’s has that feature and possibly JIM’s coach has that feature.

I am not aware of any 40 foot coaches that automatically dump tag axle air when making sharp turns. The feature does not raise the tag but just dumps air bag air.

If anyone has a 45 foot coach and wants to see if the coach has the automatic tag air dump feature, drop the front bumper and look up infront of the area of the steering column. There is likely going to be a rectangular stainless steel component that travels when the steering wheel is turned from full left to full right. At the end of the travel the stainless steel part (either direction) the part contacts a lever arm on a switch which initiates the automatic dumping of tag axle air.

Well now you’ve done it. All of us that do our own work never ever reveal how dirty or greasy or cut and scratched we get working on our buses. And worse……people that do not yet own, but aspire to own a Prevost see us as rather elite folks that not only have never gotten our hands dirty, but wouldn’t know the business end of a screw driver.

I hope you realize how much spin we need to put on this to reverse the damage you have done.

I hope all you fine folks reading this thread realize the photo above is an Eagle owner. When I work on my bus I wear a suit, white shirt and a tie. I own a Prevost.

    Thanks Tom.

Joel, on our coach I got tired of trying to fix the broken plastic mirrowed handles and decided it was time for a change. No offense intended for other Liberty owners but I thought those type of handles looked sort of cheezy. I replaced all of mine with Balwin Brass handles with escutcheon plates as shown in the attached photo. I would be glad to share my approach to installing the new handles in a PM if you are interested. There are tricks to know/learn in order to reduce the risk of breaking a mirrow and be throw into seven years of bad luck! Hope this helps.
