I just did the rebuild on mine a couple,weeks ago. Ordered the kit from NJ and it took a couple hours. Kind of intimidating but I got it done.

Been through one back around 1980 while living in Evansville, Indiana. Went through another here in NC back in the winter of ’02, 2002 that is not 1902!
We have very tall and very big pine trees with long, and I do mean long, needles. The forecast that night in ’02 was for 3″ of snow, period. Nothing else. Well at 2:00 AM the power went off. I’m nice and warm in bed with no way to do anything about it so went back to sleep until the morning sunrise.
Our three heat pumps are right outside the bedroom window so I raised the curtain and peeked out. There was three inches, only problem it was three inches of ICE. That is bad enough. On top of that was 20″ of wet snow. All of that was hanging on those long needles of every pine tree in Moore County. Oh yeah, the trees were going down all around, sounding like the 105’s at Fort Bragg, our neighbor to the east. Transformers were sounding off too. Our power was out for four days. We lived in the basement where there was a really nice warm Poppa Bear Vermont Castings wood stove. It had ducting to connect with our HVAC ductwork. Burned that Poppa Bear continuously while power was out. OnIy single digits for most of the outage but Poppa kept the house at 51 degrees. Now that is cold but sure not as cold as it would have been without him.
Carolina Power and Light (known locally as Crappy Power and Light) was our utility back then. Our service record was peppered with outages supposedly caused by squirrels electrocuting themselves on the contacts of transformers, or wisteria vines doing the same. So Carole solved that problem by installing a home generator. Now our house, at least the original part of it, is old – built in 1921. We still have remnants of the old spool and wire house distribution system. Well we initially wanted only certain circuits to be covered by the backup generator. Turned out to do that we would have to rewire both breaker panels. It was more cost effective to simply install a generator that could handle the whole house. The generator runs on natural gas, automatically senses a power outage and starts itself with 30 seconds. We both love it.
So we are ready for tonight’s ice. As long as one of those remaining tall pines doesn’t fall onto the house. There are two, one on each neighbor’s property that could be a problem if they come down. We have asked the neighbors to let us take them down but they are tree hugging them. I guess we will have to let the insurance companies work it out if that were to happen.

Seriously they are both very nice folks even if they cant speak the kings english . If I could figure out how, I would show y’all their real pretty coach. Unfortunately Im electronically challenged and can barely use my dumb phone. -
He could be hearing the coil trying to ignite fuel, it’s more of a snapping sound than a click. Of course he should also hear the circulation pump and combustion fan running as well.

What do you use to find upcoming fuel prices? I have the standard 160 gal but would still like to find cheaper fuel ( even better with discount) if I know when to stop. -

OTR, Cruisair, Roof Air or Dash Air?Also, you mention auxiliary. Do you mean auxiliary air?

We buy our R-12 for our coach on a Craigs List. It’s sort of a strange transaction , meeting someone in a parking lot, but it beats paying a shop $60-80/pound We bought a 30 pound container (sort of looks like a BBQ Lp bottle ) for three hundred dollars,mand another for $3750
We have vintage cars that utilize,R-12 for A/C, as well. Before we knew better, we converted two cars to the newer R-134a,,,let’s say we won’t ever do it again, and never the bus. We have been told old style low pressure compressors don’t utilize the “new gas” as well. The new gas molecules are smaller than R-12, and just leaks out of older lines and equipment. Changing out the bus equipment we have been told is very expensive, so we will stick with buying our R-12 meeting the seller in a cornfield. The two purchasers we met have been licensed refrigerant techs. We then take our containers to Stewart-Stevenson for install in the bus, only paying labor.

There was no foam on the compressor panel on my 94 and there were probably 8 or 10 screws holding it.
Maybe Tom R will jump in here, he’s probably had it off since he’s owned it.

Whoa Peter -20. It’s 39 here outside Muldoon Tx. bout 100 miles from Gulf Of Mexico as the crow flys. Gonna get down to 25 they say tonight. Mines plugged in inside my barn also. Just picked up a newborn calf and hustled her into pen with Momma. Don’t know how you folks make it up north. Get down to 20 F. here and I would lock up! Stay safe!

What are the symptons of a failing/failed Mach 5 pump?
Mine started off with working fine, but after flushing the toilet, sometimes it ends up in an endless cycle of running/shutting off then running again (each run is about 15 seconds). Then the pump errors/alarms and needs to be reset.
Recently, I am getting an issue where no matter what it goes into that cycle. Checked all I could on proper priming the pump, went throught the steps (which matched what I was doing) and it still cycles the pump. Am thinking the pump needs replacement, which is odd as it looks pretty new (newer then other components in the water bay).

We’ll get pix as soon as possible, the bus is at Parliament/Coach Worx getting stuff done that we knew about going in plus zeroing out all the maintainance stuff.
