You know better. Always PM before it happens!!!LOL I rebuilt my hole aqua hot this summer expect new tank did not want problems it was blowing soot on ground when I used it , inside bad everything PM before you need it , better to do it and not need it than not do it and need it!!!!!!!

It is warming up here…only -6 right now and will be in the +20 degree range this weekend. I hate Webasto issues too. I had issues with mine once and it was a royal PITA. Knock on wood, it has not happened again. Stay warm down there!

Tom,

When you say a new nozzle, do they wear out or is there a seal kit ? Getting ready to go through ours. It fires up fine but we have not used it maybe 5 times since we have owned it.

I was going to clean the fuel filter but not sure about anything else like the nozzle.

You may want to check the flame sensor and the coil as the problem you described is the system is not firing and that is due to either a coil or sensor eye failed or got alots of oil on it.

Yes it could be a number of things. If the nozzle becomes clogged, the mist spray can become a stream and the fire will go out. If that happens, the photo cell should shut the fuel off, since it doesn’t see flame. Usually if the photo cell gets soot blocking the light, it won’t fire from the start.

So I’ll be checking the coil and photo cell and let you know what I find. When I called Webasto to get the part number, the tech guy said he doubted it was the photo cell, could be the coil, but bet it would be the nozzle. We’ll see..

Why is it nothing breaks when we don’t have to use it?

Tom’s dilemma is one that impacts just about every one of us. Whether we have Webasto or Aquahot we still have Webasto and all the same potential issues. As Tom points out the nozzle is by far the single biggest issue and it is an easy replacement. When you do replace one it is the perfect time to clean the photocell and verify the adjustment of the electrodes For routine maintenance that and a new fuel filter is just about all that seems to be required.

FWIW in the cold spell we went through our heat pumps wouldn’t handle the temps so we had to rely on the Webasto and we woke up in the middle of the second night realizing we were getting no heat. I cycled it off, restarted it and it worked like a charm again. So despite our best efforts if it is on our coach, chances are it is going to quit at some time.
