Ok I’m going to change my own oil. Two major oil filters one in front of the transmission (assumed transmission filter) and one more rear along side the engine which I sssumed is the engine filter. So I look up the number on the engine filter and it comes up as a transmission filter.
what filter numbers should I be buying for transmission and engine?

Scotsman, only you know what is best for you. You know your budget, you know what kind of effort you are willing to put into the Bus yourself with your own hands, and after reading these forums by now you know that an older bus for sale is going to take some $ to get it road worthy. When I started looking at Busses back in 2020, I looked for the cheapest 1990 or newer I could find. Knowing that I would need to put in many days of effort and $ to get the bus where I wanted i t to be. I am very happy with my decision.

Thank you all for the great info!
No it wasn’t a tar sand bus…Lol it was purchased in California.
It has 300,000 original miles on it.
I think we’re going to steer clear of it.

I would not even consider looking at it.
If that is your budget be patient. Stick with conversions on a new chassis. Try to use a converter that has a history of producing a lot of motor homes.
At that model year the price is not unrealistic, and it is likely you can find one that has been nicely done, has a lot of coaches of similar years so you can get support from owners and possibly the converter and that was never in commercial service.

opinions: to old–titled in canada? bring to us? ck for something mid 1990’s in usa. With 60 series detroit pre egr(about 2001) Prefer factory conversion. reasons import fees—diffucult putting plates on it? mileage much better on 60 series as well as people who will work on them. Canada= salt and hidden damage. Where did coach come from passenger service? probably add a million miles to stated knowledge.. My opinions only!!!! Bob

Unless a toad is extremely light and does not need a power assist, almost any car of today has power brakes. Without the toad engine running a brake pedal needs a lot of force to drag the toad to a stop.
The extent the supplemental braking systems work is dependent upon their design. AF-1 for example works effectively because it uses the bus air system to not only apply the brake pedal, but to maintain a vacuum on the toad brake system, keeping the power brake feature operational, thus reducing brake pedal effort.
Each system available has to be evaluated relative to the toad being used. AF-1, again as an example cannot and will not provide boost to certain vehicles such as an H2 Hummer or a Ram 2500 pickup because those brake systems get boost from the hydraulic power steering system and there is no way to provide that brake boost as AF-1 is designed. So those vehicles need a brake supplement that can apply sufficient brake pedal pressure to assist in braking.
