  • Oil Filters?

Posted by Art on January 19, 2022 at 8:59 pm

Today I was changing my oil, Warmed it up drained oil removed filters, And opps I always have filters and did not. I usually use Detroit filters #23530573 made in USA, I called Detroit dealer 25 miles from here and they said they had Donaldson filters, My neighbor shop close had Donaldson filters also P552100 crossover from Detroit. That filter is not made in USA. Finished oil change, Is Donaldson good filters???

Those are all I use. Having worked at Ford for 20 yrs. that was the filter we used on all the equipment that required filtration.

Ok I’m going to change my own oil. Two major oil filters one in front of the transmission (assumed transmission filter) and one more rear along side the engine which I sssumed is the engine filter. So I look up the number on the engine filter and it comes up as a transmission filter.

what filter numbers should I be buying for transmission and engine?

Greg, for my 8V92 I use Napa Gold # 1970 for the Engine. Transmission I use FleetGuard # HF6243. Engine Filter: Detroit # 23530408

Greg, make sure to pre-load the filters with fluids before installing…especially the transmission filter. John
