I had the opurtunity to go through one the other day. I know they are refining a few things currently on coaches in production. Very well put together coach and I feel will be a major player in the conversion market within a short period of time. Very quite inside driving with no squeaks etc….
With the dealers chosen by emerald coach I think they will sell them “like hot cakes “

“ I don’t want to race up, just have enough reserve power to pass if needed.”
In other words you do want to race to the top. As much of a type A as I am, sometimes I am just as happy staying in line and relaxing. I learned a long time ago that with hills it is more about strategy than power because no matter how capable I might be to pull a hill, if a truck jumps in the fast lane to pass a slower truck, he just decided for you how fast you are going up that hill.
So when you consider that you will be paying for all that horsepower all the time, how does that make up for the few times a year you aren’t happy with your hill climing speed?
And Robert…….get your foot off the accelerator. Your cruise control makes more HP than your foot, and using your foot to try to squeeze more speed on a hill actually drops your available HP.

Bill,
First, I don’t mind PC being compared to other groups even though you made the remark as an insult. Have you considered that maybe if we are all alike that maybe, just maybe, we also might all be right with respect to the help offered to solve your poblems. That’s the trouble with free advice, it is worth what you pay for it. We can only generalize and throw out ideas. You have to sort through it. But don’t get mad at us because you have problems. We did not create them.
I’d offer to refund double your membership fees, but it is likely you can’t see the humor in that. I can tell you that regardless of age, from the oldest to the newest Prevost the cost to maintain and repair a Prevost is exactly the same so while someone with a million dollar Prevost will see the costs you incurred as annoying, someone in your shoes sees those costs as a very serious and intolerable expense. That is why Mark offered what I consider reasonable afvice, not to piss you off, but to reflect the comparative costs of ownership.
I am sorry for your problems, but it seems like we cannot help.

If you intend to spend summer in the SW, you will never get the cruise air’s to handle it…I agree with the others in case you didn’t figure it out from my earlier post. Check around, I think you’ll find some conversion service companies have done the roof air mods before; possibly some linked to this forum.

I believe having an intercom is a need for our situation. My wife is ill, spending most of the day and night in the bedroom. I make an effort to always be “on call”.
We’re both a bit hard of hearing from too many years of rock and roll. In our home, we find shouting from room to room doesn’t work…we can’t understand each other with even with a loud voice. Hence, I need to be available in and around the coach without any strain. And Jon gave me an idea…I probably will put an intercom in the bathroom. And also down in one of the bays so when I’m grilling or having happy hour while she’s in the bedroom I would always be available.
Definitely an intercom system is a need…not a want. So now I think I will install 4 stations…somehow.

600 hp sounds like a lot but the difference with 525hp on a 6% hill is not all that great. Using the CAT performance charts, a 525hp coach will do 44mph up that hill, a 600hp coach will do 49mph. These figures are for a coach that weighs 52,500lb. Anything heavier will do substantially worse.
Turning off the OTR while you pull the hill will give you half the net hp gain (30hp). You’ll barely notice the additional horses.

No limit Rick, bring your golf cart…
Red – Sheesh, you do have CRS big time.
Andre – Can your neighbor find his way home at night?

Anyone know if my vintage brake chambers are 30, 3036, 1624, and the lift 36? I know the tag is also a parking brake.
Last year I installed all new slack adjusters and discovered that the left tag caliper is stuck to its slide pins. Also the parking brake does not release without rolling back first, and the parking brake does not hold on a slight hill. I hope that new drive and tag chambers will fix the holding (broken spring). And freeing up the caliper will fix the releasing.
edit- The pads on the stuck caliper show no wear on the friction material and it is separating from the backing plate.

http://www.newellowners.com a good size board with almost 9,000 members it’s clean also just like this one -
I have to admit I love the looks of the Newell,,,, guess I am one of those guys that likes the smooth one color style. Same with my hotrods, no chrome and all one color. Our Eagle bus conversion was the same, all white and smooth sided, similar to the Newell. I will say there are lots of race car drivers using Newell for what that is worth, and maybe it is the larger engine. I am a fan of more power not for racing 90 MPH down interstate, but just for the feel of being able to get out of the way or passing when needed. But our double stroken 92 series does that just fine now that we have the boost signal corrected.
After buying this Prevost, which by the way I originally did not like the stainless and thought it looked pretentious. I would never turn back, and that is what I feel we would be doing by trading for any other coach.
There are short awnings for the door area if that is your concern, but the door up front gives you so much more room in the rest of the living area I think it is worth the trade off.
I still think Newell makes a fine coach and so does Wonderlodge. But for all the reasons Jon outlined above Prevost is our choice, even though I still appreciate the Newell style.
My advise is to ask folks on this forum their opinion and you will get the Prevost advantages, Ask on the Newell or Wonderlodge forums and get their opinions, then you can make an educated decision based on all the points that are important to you. I do not think there is a right or wrong choice.

“new Deka batteries… BIG mistake… they barely made it 30 months”
Ouch! 30 months is going to be way too soon to repeat all of that work!

Go to the nearest marina with large yachts and ask around. CruiseAir units are commonplace in yachts. Although water cooled they are very similar units.

Yes Sir, have to…..old one down the road.

I am running into the same issue with ordering brake chambers from Prevost as well. Elgin quoted me for Type 36 service brake chamber to lift the tag $455.33 I used a MGM number that Ron Walker posted above, and called MGM to see if their Type 36 chamber ( MGM1436018) had anything special to iot. The gal on the other end at MGM in California said NO. So I put in a call to Guillame Charron in Quebec to see who he can direct me. I am wanting to know if the $455 dollar price, according to Elgin, is from the Pricing Dept is a typo.

I have to jump in here with my experience with “other brand” (not Lifeline) batteries…. when we purchased our coach it had Deka batteries installed… we were new to prevost and knew nothing…didn’t even know there were any Prevost sites for help. We “thought” the batteries were fairly new, just a couple of years old we were told.
Long story short we had numerous problems popping up every trip and after a visit to a Prevost service center we were told the batteries were shot so we replaced them with new Deka batteries… BIG mistake… they barely made it 30 months… they were maintained properly… chargers were good…inverters set correctly.
We had learned in the meantime that “Lifeline” was the only way to go, so we contacted Tom & they were delivered in 2 days nicely wrapped on a pallette ready to install. Can’t beat that for service and his price was cheaper than any other “lifeline” price to be found…. awesome service !!
Yes, we saved money on the Deka batteries, no they didn’t last, then we had the expense & hassle of changing them out at $70 per hour…
At the end of the day, we didn’t save a cent …. in fact all said and done the Deka’s cost us more !!!
You do get what you pay for…. can’t argue with that… gotta look at the “big” picture !!
Cheers,
Diane
