Setup wakespeed for my 12v 50DN. Was quite a challenge pulling cables 40ft from front to back. Unsure of the total amp capacity of the 12v but it’s pulling 2500w+ according to my CerboGX still waiting on cable to connect the 2 together.
Amt, curious on why you’re picking 48v over 12 or 24v. I have 2 eg4 12v lithium batteries (800ah). Planning on getting 2 more and probably 12v again. Planning on putting them in parallel/series to get 24v and then replacing my quattro5000 12v with a pair of 24v 5000w Quattros in split-phase. I’m also planning to get a 24v 50dn+ which will let me pull 450amps 🙂 48v would be interesting especially as I’m adding a ton of solar (old rv had 3000w and I’m hoping to fill this bus with them plus more) . Are you planning 48v alternator?

You cannot series lithium batteries without using a common BMS. One cannot ouse the built in BMS of a 12 volt battery when they are put in series.

Captain, I choose 48v because there are a lot more inverter options and it’s generally more efficient. I am using a Schneider Conext XW Pro, which is good for 6.8kW continuous and can go to something like 12kW for 30 seconds. I can run all 3 of my roof airs on this.
I do not have a 48v alternator, and the ones I have seen are super expensive. Right now I am not charging the battery from the alternator (I have a 12v 50DN and a 24v something else).
The primary method for charging the 48v battery while driving will likely be a 12v to 48v converter(s), possibly multiples of these: https://www.vicorpower.com/products?productType=cfg&productKey=NBM2317S60D1565T0R
I also have a 24v to 48v converter from Mean Well, SD-1000L-12, which I intend to use on the 24v alternator/battery, but it will be more of a backup.
Another option would be to see if I can get the 50DN to output ~54 volts. Others have demonstrated modifying the field coil control to get a 12v alternator to do ~48v. Not sure I want to experiment with a 50DN on this, would at least want a spare.

It looks like my 50DN was originally 24v and somehow switched to 12v so maybe there’s a way to switch them to 48v.
With that wakespeed I’m able to pull around 3000w from my alternator so can charge up my batteries while driving which was great this weekend as we were out of town for the weekend and didn’t need to worry about plugging the bus in.
I’m planning on 2 Quattro 5000s on 120v 24v so I have redundancy incase one breaks or something. 48v is definitely cheaper and allows twice the wattage in same gauge wire but not sure if it’s worth losing the ability to charge while driving. 24v to 48v DC chargers would work though

I am tired today.
I was able to make headway but also lost or broken bolts derailed my installs.
I was able to get one passenger front brake built up with the air chamber and the slack adjuster, the other side is missing the c clamp to hold the slack to the caliper so I need to run to the parts store.
I was able to get my brake linings installed and my hubs installed on my drive axle.
Tag axle I was able to installed one brake chamber and slack adjuster. But reusing the clamp from one brake chamber to the new brake chamber resulted in broken clamp and the celvis is missing. Also for some reason my 7/16 nuts to hold my air chamber are missing and home depot only had 2 when I needed 4.
Tag lift chamber i ordered from prevost was a 36, but it came with a 30. The 36 wont fit in the bracket that holds it, so ill need to go buy a new lift chamber.
I installed all 6 airbags in the back.
I feel like I make one step forward and 2 steps backwards. Right now I have every tool in the tool box out and all over the place so I need to reorganize. Wednesday they are pulling my windshield so I can get the new fridge inside the bus.
I also need to install my 4 new batteries and my new head lights.

Also remember a new Refrigerator will not like a Modified sine wave inverter, Needs a Purer sine wave inverter, When I installed my new refrigerator I also installed 2 new Magnum 2812 inverters. I had the old Zantrex Heart black inverters when I bought it and a Whirlpool side by side Refer, Everything worked but I wanted to upgrade.

I have read about that, but I dont know if I will be able to do the upgrade right now.
Wonder how much the new fridge wont like the msw

We used a modified sine wave in our last coach and we had the same GE fridge in that coach for 20 years without issue. We now have a Fisher-Paykel and have been running that on a modified sine wave for the last 3 years. Once again, no issues.

What a day. Spent the first 4 hours just cleaning up boxes and getting stuff ready to send back.
1. Installed new brake chambers and new diaphragms.
2. Windshield was pulled and carried the new fridge though the opening. The window company said they would help and we had the fridge into the bus in 30 sec with just 4 guys. Fridge is sitting up right in the bus right now.
3. Installed new LED head lights, now just need to aim them.
4. Installed 4 new agm batteries. Switched my dip switches to align with the agm over the old gel batteries. Issue is the bus was designed for 3 batteries and I want to run 4. I will post asking about that.

Your post on another thread sounded like the three batteries was on the chassis. This thread no clarifies the batteries are for the house.
Just hook the 4th in parallel with the other three so you have all 12V output. Do not hook in series.

I had so much promise for my self this weekend and ended in a pile of smoke.
1. Tag lift air chambers installed, the factory ones are type 36 but the replacment unit doesn have the 2″ bump in them and wont fit the bracket. I installed a type 30 and will see if it works.
2. Need one more front air chamber
3. New air lines from prevost have different ends then the ones that came off the bus, so I need to go get bushings.
4. I have a bad bearing in one of my engine pullies so that had to be pulled off and i have the wrong engine belt.
Needless to say I have more tracking down parts.

I was a tad off this weekend, just couldnt get the energy up to work on the bus.
1. Struts installed on the rear of the bus.
2. Installed 2 1/2″ water lines that go to my over flow tank. Added 2 gallons of water since my sensor was going off.
3. Torqued my drive axle nuts and installed one axle.
4. All brake lines are installed and air chambers are installed.
Next up I need to install my fridge inside the bus, then I can finish my dinette install. I need to torque steer and tag axles.
I am getting closer every weekend. Might take this weekend off for mothers day.

Why did you replace an axle on Blanche?
A friend had an axle recently break on his late 90’s XL45. Having had an axle break in the Ford 9″ rear end of my vintage NASCAR Cup car and having to clean the resulting “stuff” out of the gear set and tubes, I can only imagine what a mess a broken axle will make the rear end of a Prevost.
Anyone hear of axles breaking in a Prevost?

I’m not up to date on differentials, however at one time Prevost cautioned against excessive use of power in reverse due to the greater torque available and the potential for mechanical damage.
