Dan & Judy…..geez, guys!!!! So glad everyone was OK…..
Being as shallow and crass as I am, I’ll admit, the first thought I had was whether the blame got put in the right place….which is sounds like it did. And the second thought was wondering what her liability limits are….Hope her limits are appropriate for top drawer repair!
Dorothy and I have covered about 11000 miles so far on this trip. We’ve seen people do some stuff that could easily have ended up the same way. Don’t whether the dash cam would help–but it sure makes me feel better.
The whole scene could have sure been alot uglier….happy it ended as well as it did!
Good luck…wish I could offer help, but, for sure, I’ll sure be watching the progress as things get back right!
After such a great rally–sorry the end shaped up this way. ty/dy

Dan,
Sounds like a great opportunity to contact Toyota and talk them up about doing a safety PSA. Maybe some money could come your way.
-
It’s a good thing it wasn’t a Tesla with cobalt oxide batteries. With that damage it would have probably been on fire.

Sending Kudos to Jim, Chris, George and Becky for organizing and putting on such a fun non-rally. This was our first and it was great to meet all the wonderful people that attended. In can assure you that we will come as often as our work schedule will permit. It was also great to see all the different no-slides in attendance (and yes, Larry’s slide coach was very nice looking as well). I’m hoping that we get to meet all of you again at future events.
Is there a list of people going to Jeff’s in Oct?
Be safe all,
Doug

Dan,
Super glad you are o k… that coach looks like you have been plowing with it… I know how much pride you take in it and wish you every success in getting it fixed to your complete satisfaction.
In response to Jon’s comments about insurance values and difficulties…. rest assured that if the table was turned, the insurance company on the other side of this event would not only have physical car claims but personal stress, personal physical examinations, etc, etc. They would not care Jack about the car’s values…
From my view with the unsolicited advice: .. take the lead …. get a lawyer… say very little … and use every leverage…
Very best…

Couple more pics of the bus.

Home now, bus is unloaded(lots of fun getting everything out through the window). As we inspect we continue to find more damage, cabinet and floor damage back into the galley. The entry is pushed back into the front of the wheel well, the tire will rub on a tight turn to the left. Front cap is bowed above the windshield and has distorted where it connects up on the roof. Inside the first bay the ECC has about a half inch gap where it has separated from the bulkhead. There’s more, but you get the idea.
Jon pointed out something to me about the Prius, with the battery load they carry they are heavy for their size.
-
Hey Dan, Do you have any idea the kind/type of appraisaer the insurance company will send out? I don’t know but my bet will be they’ll know little about a Prevost conversion! Please keep us posted as things move forward. So very sorry this happened to you guys!

I would bet you’re looking at a total loss Dan, that may be a good thing if you have agreed value.

While removing the fender flare, we thought the same thing. But, it’s a testament to the prevost chassis, in its damaged state could be driven across country to get Dan and Judy, and the pups home to familiar turf.
-
Two very important things………….agreed value and a dash cam.
-
The argument over value will be with the Prius’ insurance Co. I think with diligence (think Judy) you will get full recovery.
Glad you are home safe.

Is there a benefit to Dan having to go through her insurance instead of his? I understand it was her fault so you go through her insurance. My question is can you sometimes get more from her insurance than you would from your own?Harry

Doug’s correct, on both accounts, she’s all over it. The process is already started, she has documented everything. It’s still very early, but when all is said and done we’ll give a detailed summary.

Assuming Dan has collision coverage his insurance company will take care of him up to his limits. The insurance company will then collect from the lady at fault. That is why we stress agreed value and pay premiums based on that. Otherwise Dan and Judy will be arm wrestling with the lady’s insurance company for fair compensation.
