Glad to hear you, Judy and the pups are OK. Find out how good her insurance is and see if they will provide a loaner Prevost while yours is in the shop :o) Since you are out of commission for a bit, how am I going to get this New Mexico Hatch green chile with your name on it that I have in my freezer to Judy? Be sure and keep the old stainless they remove from the bus for use in Judy’s welding shop. She can make some art out of it I am sure.
Seriously, if there is anything Helen and I can do to help you out, let us know. Just glad your OK.

Glad you guys are safe. Sorry to see your Prevost in that shape. Hope you will not be sidelined for too long.

Mark, it did swing around and crushed in the front bay. We have considerable damage, more than the pic shows. When we land I’ll post more pics. In the mean time everyone better stay outa my way, one more little ding ain’t gonna matter.(-:
Thanks folks for the well wishes, we really appreciate them!

I am very happy to hear that you are all ok. That the Prius driver walked away also says a lot about technological advances in cars these days. If she had been driving a car of the same vintage as your bus she may well be dead.
Make sure to let us know how the insurance company treats you.

What a sad way to end what was a great rally. It is wonderful everyone involved is safe.
I have a request……..We have gotten into serious discussions relating to insurance over the years and if you are willing I would hope you can start a thread and outline your journey through the process of getting your coach repaired. If you don’t mind name names and help all of us who hope we never have to use our insurance understand what happens when we do.
-
Will do Jon, Judy is OCD in matters like this and tenacious. The other party was at fault, so we’ll be dealing with her insurance.
-
Thank goodness everyone is okay.
I’m curious how the police documented the scenario of the accident in the report. And I’ll ask if you run a dash cam while driving?

So glad to hear you guys and the pups are okay… we have had idiots run right in front of us just like that…. hence the dash camera…do you guys have one… could be very handy for insurance purposes at a time like that. … my only problem with the dash camera is its recording my comments too…I could probably go to jail for what I would say in that situation !!
Again the bus can be fixed and so happy you are all okay.
Cheers, Diane

Dan, ah s#@t! Thank goodness everyone is ok. We mourn for your bus. Might be dash cam time.

Lady Di, turn off the sound, I did on mine after my playback on the school bus deal, couldn’t even put the original on YouTube.:)

What Dan hasn’t mentioned here is that his driving skill might just have been the saving grace that saved the driver and passengers in the Prius. He swerved left to avoid T-boning them and ended up with his pax side drives off the shoulder of the oncoming lane. His driving skill kept the bus upright and allowed him to get back on the road and pull off on the right shoulder. The Sheriff was amazed that he was able to keep the Prevost upright and to recover control. After coming to a stop on the shoulder he then jumped out the back pax side window and ran back to see if the Prius occupants were OK. Not only is this a testament to the Prevost but to Dan’s skill as a driver. We all must be constantly aware of the idiots around us and be prepared to do what is necessary to minimize the results of an accident such as this. Oh yeah, The driver of the Prius was U-turning to go back and get the shirt that had blown out her window! Like Dan said “fly the plane”!

Dan and Judy so glad to hear you and the dogs are ok. Sorry about the bus. You had it looking so good at the rally. You make my 85 mile trip in 8 hours on the freeway leaving Driggs sound like a pleasant drive.

When Dan and Judy go through the painful process of dealing with insurance for repairs I am hoping they will be able to get their coach fully restored.
All of us with older coaches have to be aware that even modest damage repairs are expensive and it does not take long for the total cost of repairs to approach or exceed insurance limits, market value or inhibit the ability to have the best shops do the work.

Diane, et.al.
Coincidentally I just listed a no-longer-needed dash cam here for sale and it does have the ability to turn off recording sound, for just such an occasion! 😉

I’m going to have to hire Doug as my publicist,…. thanks for the kind words!
Jon, your absolutely correct, we’ve been going through the same thoughts.
