Made resevations a couple of week ago. Count us in for the Cowboy Museum, too.
Jean said to add us to list for the chilli contest. She told me that she has a bunch of recipies she will try out before we come. I might be tired of chilli before the end of September.
We are really looking forward to this rally. I can’t wait to get the old girl (the bus- not Jean) back on the road.
-
Keep talking like that and Jean will leave you home. We know what you meant in the first place.
Aren’t you getting ready for snow about that time of year?
-
Jon,
No she won’t. I just ordered her a new seat. Hope to get it and install it before rally. It has heat/air and massage.
And yes, winter is coming. Still chopping wood for the wood burners. We ran out last year. Wow it was cold.

Based on some helpful input for the chili contest chili can be presented in your crock pot rather then a bowl. This will keep the chili warm for flavor tasting.
We have the meeting room reserved for PC and they confirm enough power outlets and tables available.
-
The crock pot identifies the contestant, and then there might be the temptation to vote for the person not the chili.
I think the judge(s) or moderators need to figure a way to have blind tasting such as measuring out the contents of all crock pots into numbered paper cups or bowls so after the voting is done based on the number, then the names can be associated with the numbers.
How much chili should everyone make? With 25 or 30 coaches that translates into 50 or 60 servings, and that seems unrealistic so how many servings or what size should the contestants plan for?
Plan on everyone making a lot of chili. I plan on eating a lot. But the next morning folks might want to not be near my site, expecially if the vent fan is on.

We have talked about the same bowl idea. I was reminded that great tasting chili needs to be warm and preferred at a temp for eating.
Let’s try this….Bring your full crock-pot up to the club house meeting room around 11:45 and the taste testing then starts at 12:00 noon. A double batch is probably a good idea.
That way we could put a number on each crock pot and unless Mr.Knoxville is peaking that should solve that .
Taste testing will be small 2oz. bowls/cups so everyone can sample each of the entries then vote by number.

Hi Gary,
With the rally starting on Friday it was suggested the chili contest be Saturday. Every one would be settled in not under any pressure getting set up …… then rush to a chili contest.
Bring your killer chili in crock pot at 11;45 am Saturday to our reserved meeting room at Twin Fountains. WE will have electric plug-ins and tables, napkins, 2 oz taste cups, spoons, crackers…… BYOB
We can start taste testing at 12:00 noon thru 1:00 pm. Everyone attending the rally is invited to taste and vote ….One vote per person.
We’ll tally with most votes win fuel cards 1st, 2ad and 3ad.
If there is a tie…. Winners will split the prize or “their” choice a coin flip.
FWIW….Jon did some Tennessee math with 24 buses (current sign up) we should have appox 50 people.
There are “10” chili entries…..so double batch is suggested.

I know of 2 couples (2 buses) that haven’t signed in here but have called and signed up to come…
Peggy and Wayne Cowart
Bob and Sandi Thomas
I am excited to see them both again.
-
Big Al, put us down for a Chili entry! So that should put you at 8 entries!
Tom & Bill

Well if some of you don’t already know it, Texas has some of the best chili around….but we here in Oklahoma simply cannot let them just walk away with a ribbon each time….so, the Red River Challange is on! Please throw my name in the hat for the chili cookoff.
-
The winner of the chili contest agreed last night that I could throw her name into the hat.
Lady Di will be participating. (that is if I don’t eat it all before we get to OKC)
BTW, there is no way to put this delicately so I will just say what everyone is ignoring…….We should follow the chili contest with a fart contest, ala Blazing Saddles. Tom will supply the beer for the added boost. I hope none of the new owners didn’t have high expectations for this group.
-
Well…..leaving this group and going to the “Prouds” will give us a pretty good comparison !

Just signed up for Oaklahoma mini rally. The gal said it’s filling up real fast. This will be our first rally since we started motorhoming. Look forward to seeing everyone.
