The cost of taking off the old and putting on the new was $1,1000 and they told me it would cost more to clean it and most likely would not get all the stuff out. Decision seemed like a no brainer! -
Might have to take a picture of that dude. Was it a Prevost install? Think my converter put the Raycor on. They also have a water separator in them and that you can see if waters there. Google them.

Harry,
FTIW, I pull in and back out. Totally personal preferrence. The layout of my barn lot sets me up to do it this way. The barn door is parallel to the entry drive on the right. If I were to back in I would have to pull past the barn and make a 90 deg backing turn on the blind side into the door opening.
Instead I pull past, back into the lot 90 deg on the drivers side and then pull straight into the door.
Let circumstances dictate how you do it. Not my way.
Check for your highest point on the coach. It may be a currly que CB antenna instead of the dome. It was close on mine. Once you get it in the building measure from the rafters to the floor and the rafter to the highest point. Then you will know forever what your height is. I think mine is really 12-2 I added 4 inches for margin and just use 12-6.
Your coach will either have 2 spin on type fuel filters or a primary raycor and a secodary spin on. Look on the passenger side of the engine above the starter and between the engine and start batteries. That tall plastic bowl will be your raycor. I don’t know how Beaver ordered the shell but most converters used a raycor. If the secondary was plugged up either it had not been changed in a long time, or the primary is also full. Clark may not have the raycor paper filters but Jeff does or call other RV service places in Knoxville. Jon may can turn you onto a source. Clark can always install your part. But the point is you need both filters changed. From above it appears clark only changed one and it is not clear to me if that was the primary or secondary.

Hi Joe, I think the highest thing on my coach is the rear antenna that has a bend to it. If that hits the roof of the garage or the entry point of the garage, is that a problem? -
I just got off the phone with Clarke and they said they have to replace the ECM. They said they got one in yesterday but when tested it was bad. They ordered a new one that should at 10 this morning and will hopefully call me before noon to come pick up my bus! There my be light at the end of the tunnel after all…

If you think the filter was expensive, just wait for the ecm cost.
Harry – Who did your pre purchase inspection?

Those short stubby antenna don’t have a lot of flex. They break easily if they are hit. I have a broken one for the CB and since I took the CB out I don’t care. If it were the am/fm I would replace it. You may have up to 4 on the top. 2 CB, front dash AM/FM and mine has a bedroom AM/FM at the rear.
Like some doubted the starter, I doubt the ECM. Make sure Clark will put your old one back and remove the labor charges if that does not resolve your problems before they install in the new one. Low/high voltage codes on the DEC II are not uncommon and just about meanngless. Usually they are not associated with the ECM at all but the wiring generally on the ground side which makes them had to find and they are intermittent. Stuff that stays broke is easly to fix otherwise………
I have had those codes all in a short time period and then they go away and havent returned. That may be why Clark is showing different codes than when you flashed them on the drive home. Will had a similar experience. In my case I did nothing, not sure how Will resolved his problem. He may chime in but is fighting the antifreeze leak.
I sent you the DEC II troubleshooting manual a while back, and I bet Clark has long since thrown their copy out. Get them to explain how the code they are getting using the logic in that book leads to ECM replacement.
All of this is speculation as I have not seen the code reader/computer results nor tried to follow the troubleshooting guides for the codes you posted.
Good luck.

I agree in having them agree to replace your old ECM if the new one does not fix the problem. Most shops (heavy truck) have fallen to guesswork and hanging parts these days. It’s common for shops to keep a loaner ECM to ensure that the issue is a bad ECM. I certainly hope that’s your problem and you’re under way quickly!

Wow, I’ll say one thing, I’d not hire you guys to tell me a bedtime story you’d give me something like. Mary had a little lamb, her father killed it dead, now Mary takes it to school each day between two slabs of bread! Now that’s something to help you sleep at night! Ok Joe, how much is the ECM?

A lot of Prevost have a Racor 1000FG 30 micron primary fuel filter installed by the converter.

On the engine there is probably a 10 micron spin-on like the following
Your results may vary

When I had issues with my transmission last fall, Allison was saying it was the computer, wanted to swap it out. I confirmed that if that didnt fix it, that I wouldn’t be charged. Was a good think, as the $25000 computer wasnt the issue 😉
I would want to be there with them before they plug the DDEC in and make 100% sure they are okay with removing it and not charging you for the part if it doesn’t fix the issue. Or even better, test yours prior to swapping and having them show you where your’s is failing and the new one isn’t (the computer should be able to do that, espcially since they mentioned the new one they tested prior was bad).

Harry,
You missed a good opportunity to spend some quality alone time with Your coach. Before leaving home headed for Clarke, You should have stocked up the fridge and loaded up plenty of snacks and goodies. And had several changes of clothes and shoes , Light jacket , Old work clothes that You do not care to get dirty, etc. Cleaning supplies , Glass cleaner, Leather conditioner. A few good books if You like reading or the instrument of Your choice if You play one. Good selection of music and DVD’s. Pocket knife and a good piece of cedar if thats what relaxes You. ( Outside of coach only ) Some good strong alcohol for medicinal purposes of course. A few Guns with cleaning supplies and plenty of ammo. And maybe a few tools. Tire pressure gauge. And told the Misses that You had a mission. You would be back when they got Her fixed. Or even took Her with You if Your schedules allowed. Clarke will not let You park inside their gate at night. So that would have given You a crash course in Boondocking. Putting the generator and house batteries thru their paces. The plumbing and hot water and toilet to see how long Your hot water lasts. If You are getting any odor from your holding tank. If Your tank monitors work and are accurate. Even if your holding tank monitor works, How full to get the tank before you have a problem with odor or a backup in the shower. That will make You want to cuss ! And have to clean and Sanitize and clean some more and sanitize again. Use Your heat and AC systems , creature comforts are important. You would have had to find places to park , Take on fresh water and dump Your tank after a few days. And had plenty of time to get to know the ole girls personality. Clean this , Clean that , Watch TV and see what channels come in. Put some ice cream in the freezer see how it does. Trust Me, You want to be able to trust Your refridgerator and house batteries and inverters and generator to know how they perform before spending a lot of money on groceries and hitting the road. We lost a good supply of crab legs and seafood when Our old Amana went out a few years ago. The fuel used would have surely been cheaper than the rental car. And since You missed this opportunity, I would suggest that You and the Misses do this at home or near Your hometown where You are familiar with the roads and are close enough to the house in case something should happen. Stay long enough to get to know the coach and how to operate it. I still have to tell my wife sometimes which switches to push where to get what she wants. Also is a good time if she does not know how to navigate with a GPS to teach Her how to use one along with an old fashioned standby map. A good Co-Pilot is priceless , Especially in heavy traffic to check Your blind spot. Do the pre inspection safety check together. teach Her how to drive it. And how to use the CB radio if she doesn’t already know how. Then when You do hit the road together , It will be a trip You can enjoy and not have all the stress of learning on the road. Even if You plan on being mostly a pole to pole guy. You will find Yourself having to spend the night in a parking lot or rest area from time to time.
Best of luck with Your new to You coach,
And SAFE TRAVELS,
Rocky -
I believe Clarke has decided not to drain the wallet using multiple repairs, but to open it wide and vacuum the contents all at once.
I have no clue at this point what is going on, but I can say for certain DDEC ECMs are extremely sensitive to both high and low voltage and on older coaches if connectors are not clean and the contacts in good shape just a little resistance can create some unusual codes.
It is amazing how pulling connectors apart, and then putting them back together seems to cure problems because some of the corrosion that might occur over time is rubbed off from the sliding contacts. Do I seem cynical? Yes. Would I have been there to stand over them. Yes. They may actually believe a new ECM is required, but when the second one failed two thoughts race through my brain. First, is anyone actually verifying the contacts are not the issue, and secondly are the wasted hours building up the wallet draining bill?
Gone Crazy sure offered some excellent advice.

Harry,
New ECM at clark in nashville was around 4G for mine icluding diagnosis and labor. They had my coach for 6 weeks and they apparently failed to keep it plugged in or put to sleep so i had to replace chassis batteries. I was having similar issues with engine warning light lack of power and trans erratic shifting. All was well after the new ecm. If you leave it there make sure the plug it in or kill the power. Jeff
