How do you protect the LED’s? I bought some and have already lost three LED’s do to one coming off.

Take a look at the Hella LED light fixtures. High quality, and they actually hold up in the real world…
I have used them on several vehicles with outstanding success. Of course, they are expensive but in my humble opinion a great option. For Halogen replacement bulbs and fixtures for interior lights, try this site:

I have the 20 watt halogen recessed ceiling lights with the screw on frosted cover. I want to replace the halogen bulb becasue of the heat and electrical load with LED. Does the site you mention have a direct replacement LED “bulb” that can do that? I have tried without success to copy over a link that I think might be the one but before I would order, I would like someone else to put an eye on it. The site is the superbriteleds you mentioned and the bulb is the G4-xWHP6-DAC. Please let me know.

I received my roll of 3/8″ LED rope light today. Most of the incandescent rope in my bedroom is dead. The instructions say not to install in a groove or routed channel. On a CC, the window rope, stair rope, and ceiling console rope are all in routed channel.
Is this just a legal team run amuck or is this really a problem? If LED draws less power than the old rope it should be cooler- right??

I have used them in channels and have had no problems.

Liam, do they actually fit in the groove? That along with being deep enough to mount and still not block the light seem to be challenges.
The recommendation not to mount some in channels has to do with blocking the light.
Jon, you are consistent with your view on not accepting modern improvements. In time you will no doubt follow your past shifts in not supporting Centramatic wheel balancers and multiplex systems. Maybe, just maybe, you will some day own a touch screen phone.

Wrong. I embrace multiplex wiring systems. Ease of trouble shooting, reduction in weight and compexity, less wiring, relays circuit breakers, fuses etc. make it ideal for our coaches, both the house and shell.
I have Centrimatics on my coach. My previous objection to wheel balancers however is consistent. If the coach did not have them I would be using Equal or its equivalent as I have done since about 1992, which is probably when you were still hammering lead weights on your wheels.
As to touch screen devices they have a purpose, but not to make life more complex, but to simplify. It is an ideal application to control the myriad of AV devices from one universal device and the Crestron in my coach does a fantastic job. Where it falls short is it replaces switches or buttons conveniently located and requires too many steps to do what one switch would do.
As to phones………I don’t like them. I don’t greet each day looking forward to phone calls. In another life I lived on the phone and my customers needed 24/7 access. I now use phones as a convenience. For me. But despite the appearance of not embracing technology I use it when it makes sense. We have never owned a coach in which I did not have a cell phone hard wired into it. When we bought our first coach in 1990 one of the first things we did was have a then analog black box cell phone installed. Now the coaches have a digital black box cell phone and our coach has phone extensions throughout.
You may call your touch screen device a phone, but it is a computer, camera, GPS, voice recorder, and garage door opener. That’s nice but I don’t text, I don’t take pictures, I have a GPS, I have no voice mail, and I get along OK.
There is no doubt at some point my flip phone will have to be one with a screen. It was a bitch trying to get one that didn’t have a camera and then getting the folks at Verizon to disable the texting and voice mail. But in the meantime my phone is doing well. It doesn’t get turned on much so it might never wear out.

Those guys are just following my lead.
I have developed an absolute distaste for the fancy phones because whenever we go to a restaurant we are amazed that when several people sit down to enjoy a nice meal the first thing they do is grab their phones and ignore everyone else at the table, all of whom also have their phones out.
When I see someone screwing with one in a car while they are driving I inch closer and closer to buying a long range cell phone jammer to install in the bus.

Went through this thread and still couldn’t find a source for replacement LED rope lights 12v for 2002 XL II marathon. Lots of sources on internet for 1/2″ diamter but the ones I need are about 1/4″ diameter rope. Anyone know where to look?

Amazon link ships direct from China. These are about 1/4 inch wide by 16 ft long. They are a cool white so a blue tint. Other colors available. 12V DC direct hook up. The self sticking back does not work all that well. Order the silicone holders or use a narrow good grade double sided tape.

tape poor holding power. I use it for initial set then put a dab of GE Clear silicon about every 6 inches to air in fastening. Cool white is about same as sunlight—-bright white = artifical florescent (sort of harsh to me) 12 VDC will be less problems as I have found some 12 V ac will leave every other diadoe off. If you intend to dim make sure you get dimeable. Polarity sensative and will not burn or possibily skip units if not correct. they are marked + or- . If you decide to use transformer oversize advertised rateing by 20%(experience here). That’s all I have. Bob

The 12 volt LED strips have become super cheap. You can get waterproof 600 diodes/ 5 meters for about $15. The seller I used is JACKYLED, which I got through Amazon. The 600 diode strips are obviously twice the density of the regular 300 diode strips. The visual result is a smooth solid line of light rather than pinpoints, but they are very bright. You will want to use a dimmer. The ones pictured are cool white. Sorry for the bad cell phone picture, but you get the idea. As noted by others, you will need additional adhesive on any LED light strips.

I have a few of my trivoli lights out around my windows. I am assuming that you all are talking about using this rope in place of those. Can you cut them off and strip the wire and solder on a connector that matches the origonals? I called Liberty and they said I would have to measure each one and check which end the connectors were on (and that they were not all the same even on the same coach) and then they could get them for me.
