you need all the same on circuit to control dimming feature. The H require much more power than LED you are controling power to the circuit as a whole not to each indivual buld. Hope that explains it. Bob

We had all of ours replaced, and we’re pretty satisfied. I say “pretty” because there was some adjustment for me personally as far as the brightness goes. We used the lights that are closer to the color of the old lights in most of the bus, but in the bathroom vanities, we had them switch the warmer lights to the brighter (but harsher) almost blue lights. I couldn’t see to put on make up, and John couldn’t see to shave with the warmer type of LED lighting. In the daytime in the bus, I don’t feel like I can achieve the brightness I’m used to with the lights, but at night it’s fine. I think we’ll end up having the under the cupboard lights in the kitchen replaced with the same brighter lights we had the vanity lights done.

They do dim just as our previous bulbs did. As far as the cost — we had a mobile repair guy who is a friend of ours replace them at cost for the price of a steak dinner we cooked him. 🙂 It was actually an enormous pain in the neck for him, literally, and took quite a while to do. I believe therein lies the cost of having someone like Marathon or someone else do it!

Cathy….I’m totally on board with the pain in the neck!

Thanks for your input…..I’m very happy with the warm LED’s in the ceiling, just wish I could change them all to LED and still retain the 3 stages of dimming.

Bob, there are only 4 lights on the right side ceiling circuit. When I changed all 4 to LED is when all went awry.

when there are 2-h and 2-led the dimming works great. ????

Depending were your dimmer is located, you may be able to easily change it to one compatible with LEDs. There are several if you do a Google search. I put the cheap Chinese LED discs in. They aren’t advertised to be dimmable, but do dim one stage instead of the 3 o4 of the last regular bulbs.

Not all LEDs are created equal. If the warm white were too dim, they probably don’t have many LEDs on the replacement bulb. I believe mine are very near the regular bulbs. I put LEDs on one side of the living area and left the others to determine if I wanted to stay with the LEDs. In that totally subjective test, one side of the coach looked as illuminated as the other.

Gil, I did the same test, switching out half the salon lights, and I also found that the warm white LEDs were almost indistinguishable from the halogens. I think I have a photo of the comparison which I will post if I can find. Even if the LEDs drew the same amount of juice, I would replace the halogens for significant reduction of heat.

At Marathon Service Center this week in FL this week and had the switch over to LED inside the coach. Difference is pretty amazing… It’s actually brighter with the LEDs the color temp is better to my eyes anyways, they still dim and difference in heat output and power consumption is pretty amazing…

I know there was some discussion about DIY on this project and for me I am glad I opted to let them do it… They had to reprogram the techlink dimmers as well and change out control chips in the dimmers to better control the LEDs.

Getting a bunch of other stuff fixed, adjusted and explained while we are here… .Life is good!
