Fired up the gen today and ran it for awhile w/flush in the cooling system. No Problems.

Don, do you have any opinion on if the noise level has changed? It looks fantastic.

Its still very quiet in and out. Wish I had a decibal meter so as to measure before and after.

Don,
You have obviously created a great deal of interest regarding a topic a lot of owners may eventually have to face. Would you consider writing an article that walks everyone through the proces of removal of the generator, cleaning of the bay, refurbishment of replacement of parts, relining the box and re-assembly?
Cite sources or specifications for materials and list any special tools or devices such as a lift to remove the generator.

Yes, that is good looking “Bling” in the gen bay.
I did noticed another thing when looking real close. Generator hours written on filters just changed….12640 hours on air filter housing. That’s a lot of run time and a lot more then we normally see.
Our generator had 1600 hrs when purchased. For a bus 15 years old that’s a hair over 100 hours a year. Our generator had turbo replaced after the inspection to correct run problems. I believe turbo part cost was about $685 + labor.
About 100 hours of run time before it ran smooth after the repairs.
FWIW…the more they run the better

Its a PowerTech 17.5kw non-turbo.
Yep, 12700 hrs is what it has now. Previous owner did a lot of dry camping and not a lot of driving with only 77,000 miles. We’ve put 300 hrs on it since we’ve owned it and it purrrrrs like a kitten. Doesn’t use any oil and doesn’t have any blow-by at the slober tube. I called PowerTech before we bought it wondering if I should budget for overhaul or something? They said its the same genny yachts use and to not worry about it until 20,000 or 30,000 hrs.
