Once I got the old heat/sound barrier material removed, I noticed a piano hinged door mid way back on the left wall that is common w/the OTR air evaporator. It appeared to have been sealed by Funk & Wagnalls. So I opened it hoping to find a hidden treasure chest or at least a map to one. No such luck. All there is is the backside of the OTR air evaporator. Looking across I could see the another such door leading into the same area from the gen fan compartment.

Don: This is a really good post. Since your coach is a Liberty, did you find any polished copper back in there that you’ve never seen before? Keep the pictures and description coming!
-
Don’t start something Dick. Don has a Classic so he will never have to worry about polishing copper or replacing corroded copper pipes.
-
This classic has a fair amount of copper pipe, its under and behind things, not on display.
Didn’t install the gen again today. I decided to shorten the electrical cables today so there won’t be as much clutter when I re-install it, in a day or two.
-
Got it put back in today. Plan to build a pretty new pully cover soon. Next is the radiator bay remodel.

-
You need to touch up the spot where the alternator was sitting when you painted the generator and before you tightented the belt.
Just teasing…….it really looks good. Do you know how hard it is going to be keeping the tread plate polished?
-
Don,
Really a NICE job!
Your drag race cars could run a without a fan all together if you had to….LOL
We run Top Sportsman as well.
Mine has a squirrel cage fan, and it really keeps it cool, no hotter than 170 even on 95′ days.
And, I WISH…..I could get my Generator out. In a Vantare, it’s almost impossible to change radiator hoses, without a Major Bus overhaul!!
Looks Great!
-
Don, that is a really nice job. You have set the bar for generator bay upgrade.
-
Thanks everyone. I saved the best for last. Built the cover today. What cha think?
I’ll paint the original part tomorrow and mount it on the original cover and the gen.

Don is that sound barrier and insulation fire retardant?? because it can get very hot in the gen bay, Looks great nice job , and the rad cover sweet !!!!!
