Returned to Florida from Buffalo and updated the service address with
DirecTv. I got Bob this time from the Philippines and he repeated and spelled
out the new address 4 times…very frustrating. Yet, below is the total time to
get all local and network channels with me updated address…5 1/2 minutes.

Jimmy: How often can you do this? Can you do this for weekend trips? How long does it take for “change” to take place? Instantaneous?

Dick…you can change your address as often as you want. On a slow 2 week trip to Florida from Vonore, I changed it every 2-3 days. The change is instaneous. They’ll refresh your equipment while you’re on the phone and you can verify you got the new network stations. That verification process is included in my stopwatch time of a little over 5 minutes.

Jimmy, you may have already said but, do you also have DTV at your residence? That seemed to be the sticking point with the person I spoke with at DTV.

I do have DirecTV at my residence but DO NOT MENTION THAT. When I’m home I update my service address to my residence. When I’m on the road I change the address to whereever I am which means my home will not get the local stations. DO NOT MENTION RV. DO NOT MENTION 2nd HOME. Just say you want to update the service address period. Any discussion about 2 homes or an RV will confuse the hell out of them. There is more information in my posts above.

If you don’t have DirecTV at home, though I haven’t tried it, it should not matter. Don’t give them more information than they need. Just update or change service address…Period.

Jimmy, you are correct…also if I get a person like your Phillipino, I just hang up and re-dial…..saves time.

Had a issue with my DishNet today and got 3 foreigners as my Wingard kept hunting for bird in Central Tx. Had the motion dome put on down in Pipe Creek tx. by the bus guys over 6 years ago. They (Dish when I could understand them) kept telling me to call Wingard. Finally did and guy said they just changed format and might promt me to buy another dome and reciever, have the 211K, as they are changing formats and the Wingard couldn’t find the bird. . My coach evry time I took it out after sitting in covered bus barn over a couple weeks, took a call and hit/spike from Dish to get it online. Today no go. Gonna try it again tomorrow and see. Oh and costs me an extra $10 bucks a month on home bill.

I’m on a couple of other forums which aren’t related to motorcoaches or RV’ing.

Just like the PC Forum, when the subject of satellite TV, cable, DTV, DISH, etc. comes up there is one post after another relating stories of absolutely terrible customer service experiences.

With all the new technology options coming to the marketplace, you’d think these media/entertainment content provides would work harder to provide better customer services experiences and provide products that the customers really want … like the ability to move your “home” as often as you want using your SmartPhone.

Why do they make it so difficult and frustrating. You’d think these companies were run by the same people running Sears, K-Mart, J.C. Penny, Radio Shack, Woolworth’s, and all the other companies that have disappeared over the last two decades.

Wingard Mission quit working and went with the T4 yesterday and works now. Wingard said that Dish has changed format and older dishes can’t find bird. Installed and picked it right up. Still have/kept the 211K reciever. How are the rest with the Road Trip Mission doing? Inquiring minds want to know.

    PS,

Winegard techs said system still worked on Direct TV.

I haven’t used mine since last June. I think mine is a 2013 sn#. Here’s another forum talking about the problem.

Fired up our Winegard Roadtrip Mission in-motion satelitte antenna this week, with our Dishnetwork 211k receiver and it works perfectly. Mine must be a late model sn# that doesn’t need updating.

We have a second home in the CO. mtns. Here is how little clearance there is when I put it in our shop/barn w/the front suspension all the way down. WHEY!!!!!!!

I spoke with DirecTV and AT&T on Thursday. AT&T offers streaming (all channels) on your iPhone for $100 per month. If you buy Apple TV (small square thingy) for $990 you can show what your streaming on your TV (and also anything on your iPhone desktop).

Ahhh, I didn’t think of that Sir Thomas,

I don’t know why but I had the feeling from my conversation that the iPhone plan wasn’t an issue, but of course it must be…

One thing I found out almost by accident, is that AT&T/DirecTV offer what they said is a “nice monthly discount” to military active duty and veterans alike. You have to go to an AT&T retail store to get it. I don’t know what the discount amount is but I’ll let you know when I find out.

DirecTV was $70 per month for their mobile service and you can call them when its not in use and they will not bill you for the service for that period of month/months. I don’t think I’d waste my time for $70 but they offer it.
