Doug,
thanks for the info on the additional kit parts.
I have a ’98 engine in a ’99 bus. Already installed the automatic belt tensioner kit and the 50DN large vent kit.
The down pipe on the turbo side (valve cover vent?) is not supported where is passes by the cylinder head but I see it chafing there a bit. I’ll see if the clamp and small bracket can be arranged to support the pipe.
Thanks for the pointer

Gerald,
Mine has a larger version of the pipe clamp that comes in the kit that is goes over the vent pipe and is then bolted to the stamped angle that is installed with the long leg up. Short leg attached to the block using one of the small bolts in the kit.

The newer engines have a different accessory case and the kit is not necessary.

So, wanting to be proactive, I decided to order the Diamond Seal bracket kit. Well, I went to install it today just to find out it’s already there! Guess I should have looked first. The kit with S&H was about $940. If anyone is interested, I will prepay it to you for $800. (Part #23529492)
Thanks, Cliff

Did anyone ever determine if engines beyond 2001 need this stiffener kit? My engine on this bus is an 03 and trying to figure out if I need it.

July 2001 was engine production date change from what I have seen
