At this point, I don’t see any converter changing back to these units. They have been using roofairs long enough and have worked out all the issues with those. Integrated them so they don’t look terrible inside. They really don’t gain much by going back to the split systems IMO. If the cost of a roofair is 2k, they would save big time , even if they get a discount on the new Cruisair replacements. There are several cons for them going back. Space, cost, parts, service. Not really many negatives IMO for them to stay with roofair units.

I was hoping the price would be more feasible given I have 4 Cruisair units right now. Only one is not working at the moment. One could source the parts from the new units and replace old parts using the new unit replacement parts.

At the end of the day, having options are good.

Nothing is inexpensive anymore.

$8,000 was more than I was expecting/hoping for. But a year or so ago we had NO options; unless you consider installing roof airs an option (I really didn’t and was hoping I wouldn’t have to). Today we have an option. An option that apparently does NOT require extensive modifications to the coach to “fit it in”. An option that apparently uses the existing Freon plumbing. An option that apparently uses the existing evaporators and yet uses the modern Freon (at least I think it does). An option that is apparently packaged by a good, reputable company that likely will be around for the long run. An option that leverages the huge installed base of the big boat/yacht market.

My glass is pretty full on this one. My plan at this point is to replace my four Cruise-Airs as they fail.

Still pretty pricey, but I just ran across “Cruise N Comfort” brand DC units that would probably be about a 1:1 replacement for Cruise Airs…

There’s also an even cheaper “Undermount AC” brand unit which is definitely a different form factor, but includes a heater coil that would work well with Aquahot/Webasto/etc for heat.

Granted these are both 24V instead of 110V so your electrical system would have to be able to support that and there would be some wiring needed to replace the 110V…
