On another note…
We have two mornings reserved for XtremeStrikeFishing guide service. This is the prime fishing season for this area. The morning is $400 for two and you get your $17 license for a 3 day non resident from AGFC.com..
The guide picks us up at 5 am and delivers us home with the cleaned catch.
Betty and I are taking the Thursday morning… the Friday would be a great outing… or we can switch…

Looking for a little routing advice, coming south from KC to Fort Smith then 71 to 270 over to Hot Springs. Best route?

Your shit out of luck. Coming from the north there’s no better way, not that it’s bad but it has moments.
71 down to Y city is typical 4 lane to 2 lane country road. When you go left onto 270 and start getting into Mt Ida the road turns into elevation changes and switch backs where your down to 20 mile per hour. It’s a pain in ass for 30 miles or so.
Just make sure your stuff inside is secured and slow down and you’ll be fine. Depending when you go thru there traffic will get heavy on the two lane north of Hot Springs. You’ll go over part of Lake Hamilton and over Central Ave which is the main road thru town, stay on 270 and start looking for Carpenter Dam Rd exit. Go right to Shady and left.
I have been that way many times, I just prefer to come off of 30 instead, much easier.

Not yet, another 3 or 4 weeks before we get up there. Fifty’s high and 35 lows right now but then in a few weeks it turns nice very fast.
I know you folks have an agenda and Pres is cooking up some meat but a couple of spots that aren’t tourist traps are on Higdon Ferry rd which runs next to Highway 7.
Coltons Steakhouse and Grill is a good lunch and dinner house, not Ruth’s Chris by any means. Peanut shells on the floor, local crowd and you can bring big groups of people. It’s been 3 years since I’ve neen there but always made everybody happy.

Pres, my sources have informed me that you arrived yesterday afternoon(yes, Jon and Tom are not the only ones that have eyes out). Looking at the weather forecast I’m wondering……. If you have time could you build a nice enclosure on 119 about where our exit door will approximately be…………Hate for the Redhead to get wet…..(-:

Just back from Hot Springs, have to tell ya, we had an absolute ball! Pres and Betty did an outstanding job of planning and making eveyone comfortable, thanks again.
There are a couple of honorable mentions also, Jeff and Jackie for hosting our impromtu evening gatherings at they’re gorgeous CC.
Fred and Helen, Fred is a non-stop ambassador. You could always find him meandering up and down the line of busses engaging in stories and telling jokes.
11 coaches showed up, you could not have picked a better group of folks to be around. Catherine’s Landing is a beautiful setting and the Hot Springs area is a jem, we’re putting it on our list to revisit.
One last note……..In a pure stroke of genius Pres managed to have Mark and Craigs and Larry and Diane’s Liberty’s on each end of the line of coaches. We had that sweet rose petal fragrance wafting up and down the line no matter the wind direction!!!!!

Like Dan & Judy said the no rally rally was a complete success… thanks to all who showed up and a very special thank you to Pres & Betty they went beyond the call of duty… everything was perfect !
We were lucky enough to get a royal tour of the area from Jeff & Jackie… thanks so much for that guys… you were both awesome.
Such a great area to visit can’t wait to go back again.
We enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to get together again soon.
I have some pics and hope to post them soon when I get back home.

Also want to send thanks to Reagan and Betty for putting together such a fun rally. We totally enjoyed visiting with everyone! We’ve got to get those professional PC name tags like most had on.
Fred’s ramps came in handy as he was going around ‘renting’ them for only $145 a day for those of us wanting to do our own oil changes. Craig changed the oil while I watched. Helen and I made drinks, Fred was waxing the El Camino. :o) :o) :o)
Catherine’s Landing has a wonderful Pavilion for gatherings.

I want to echo everything that has been said thus far. Pres and Betty were great host’s and did an excellent job haveing things to do and the last night cookout was fabulous. I agree with Dan, Jeff and Jackie were great as well haveing everyone under their awning each night and both were just great to visit with. Fred was very helpful each day, helping us get our kayaks down to the river with his golf cart, and then pull us back to our coaches when we came back from our journey each day. It was a great time, I think I can say had by all attending. Thanks Pres and Betty, if you plan another rally we will be there.
