Any planned non-rally rallies West of Florida?
Posted by Reagan on October 31, 2016 at 3:18 pmWondering if there are any thoughts for getting together Mid-Continent?
We have talked about the Ruidoso area ?… what about a New Mexico (upper area) rally?
THe Catherine’s Landing in Hot Springs is fabulous… all types of stuff to do…
NOT New Orleans… from my view…
Lakeland is great… but it is jillions of miles away… the mid west guys need a chance at something within a decent distance…
Just wondering…

Pres,
You have identified an issue Tom and I have struggled with. It was an issue when we were in POG and it is an issue with our PC rally schedule.
First, PC (Tom and I) aren’t doing rallies per se. Far too much work and often very difficult to manage all the details and issues to everyone’s satisfaction so we stepped back from that. Having said that, PC is a large group of Prevost enthusiasts and we would love to have anyone and everyone willing to take an idea for a rally and run with it.
Use the web site forum to stir up interest, work as an individual or a group to handle the details, and rely on us to support the organizer and the rally any way we can. Perhaps Oysterfest can be a prototype. We negotiate with Bella Terra for spaces at a reduced rate, with each attendee responsible for their own reservations and site cost. We arrange for the meeting hall based on the need, such as at times when we want to have a coffee hour round table discussion. We kick in the cost of pizza or beverages depending on circumstances, but everyone who gathers actually controls the event to a large extent. Our advertisers have been great at supporting our rallies by contributing to the cost of the pizza or donuts and we make absolutely certain we make it well known they have made the event possible.
It is a lot of work and the more refined the schedule the greater the effort to put it together which is why we have gone to the no-rally rallies that are a bit of a free for all, but great fun.

Pres,
That would be great if a mid country rally would get started, PC would support it for sure. A good example is the Claw Fest in Naples this coming January, put together by Cory and George and I think it’s now passed 25 coaches attending. So I think a mid U S rally would draw a nice crowd and would be a good time.
Go for it Pres…..

In following up on Tom and Jon’s guidance, it seems that Catherine’s Landing in Hot Springs, Ark. might have appeal. It is 400 miles West of Lakeland and 350 to 400 miles North… just for reference… actually, it might attract from several states…
It is an RV Resort with all of the bells and whistles with its primary setting being on the beautiful river and the staff is great… The area is known for the “hot” tubs in the beautiful downtown which have been in existence at the old hotels for decades and is well known for the lakes and guided fresh water fishing. For the horticulturalists, and Betty is a great Master Gardener guide, the Garvin Gardens are renown. One of the prettiest places we have ever seen… I know how to raise Coastal Bermuda for hay… not how to raise flowers but the Garvin Gardens are great…The restaurants abound and even though it sounds funny in Arkansas, the Wharf is a great place for a group… setting is on a beautiful lake…
And, we will Bar B Q or grill steaks for everyone on an agreed night… If we have enough people, I will bring the 9 foot pit on the double axle trailer… and some of you guys can help… it’s totally fun…
So, that is what I know about the place having stayed there four times… it is 425 miles from Houston, 315 miles from Oklahoma City, OK, 300 from Dallas, 1026 from Tampa, 470 miles from Mobile, 635 Miles from Indianapolis, 807 miles form Charlotte S C, 704 from Chicago, 853 from Albuquerque, NM, and of course, the winner is 1640 miles from our members in Los Angeles… the guys in TN get the break… 188 miles from Memphis…
Does anyone have an interest in a gathering in early Spring if the sites are available… ???
I think we could get some good support for seminars, etc., Suggestions will be welcomed and followed-up on…
I am not perhaps the best organizer of these but it isn’t anyone’s first rodeo so we can get it done…
Let me know and I will call Catherine’s at the appropriate point… I will check other potential rally conflicts of PC…
Very best,
Pres

Pres,
Lauren and I would be interested as well. Let us know when the dates firm up and if were available to join… happy to help with the planning as well.
Sounds like fun.
-
Pres,
Well, we’ll be in TN about that time so it may very well work for us too!

This sound great.
I have called Catherine’s Landing to discuss details and to also ask when there might even be special events in the city. The RV park has 20 back end “river sites” and I mean they are close to the river…like 40 feet to the water… so we shall see… it’s beautiful…
Betty and I were talking about seminars for everyone… like a professional photographer giving ideas to improve photos for the less gifted… like me… or perhaps having an artist come and demonstrate knife painting.. who among you would like to have a professional fishing guide come and teach us how to make the “jigs” the pros use? …and then go try your new-found skills… This is the place to do it…
We will also work on the very important traditional Prevost seminars…
I know its a no-rally rally…. but some ideas could be a lot of fun…. attend them if youwish… please let us know your thoughts…
Best,
Pres

Pres,
Add me as long as it does not conflict with oysterfest. A lot of us will be leaving Florida in April, so should make a good stopping place. I have been scheduling exiting Florida to stop in Foley.

Count Gail and myself in. We have been to Catherine’s Landing and your right its very nice, and the management is great. When you get the dates we will make sure it does not conflict with anything else.

Deleted UserNovember 1, 2016 at 9:15 pmI would be interested as long as no conflict with OysterFest. And, later the better as I am busy during the heating season making money to attend these events.
Regardless of my attending, I think it is a great idea.

Elsie and I are interested, depending on dates.

Pres, great idea. Figure the mileage from Hot Springs to Foley and schedule accordingly either shortly before or after Oyster Fest. Geo.
