I think that is the point. With respect specifically to our coaches CA already has had an impact.
It starts with whether or not we have the right food in our refrigerator. We get searched upon entry to determine that. Would I be wrong in stating that some of the food we are not allowed to bring into the state was grown there, shipped to the state where we bought it, and then CA decides it isn’t good enough or safe enough to be returned?
Then if our coach is a certain length some highways are forbidden. We don’t get to use our judgement, like other states allow, it has been decided for us where we can drive.
If the coach is over a certain length the driver must have a Class B license if the driver is licensed in CA. Believe it or not, I am actually in favor of that. So far however I think it is the only state that uses the size of the vehicle rather than the weight as the need for licensing.
If we are towing we are driving to a different speed limit, slower than other traffic we share the road with. I would be OK with that if it was proven our safety or the safety of others would be compromised if we drove at the speed of other traffic, but I’ve not seen an indication of that. Even Ohio which had slower speed limits for vehicles over 4 ton repealed that law due to the safety concerns of having two traffic speeds.
And now the state has chosen to dictate what engine power trucks are allowed to have. RVs are exempt for now, but for how long?
If there wasn’t a history of CA spreading the misery by having other states adopt some of their regulations I wouldn’t be concerned how its residents choose to restrict their lives. But the impact of the rules I listed above have the potential to spread and they will affect us all, and not necessarily in a beneficial manner.

I have received numerous emails from members asking why I have not responded to this thread because I have lived in CA for 38 years and most thought I would stand up and defend my state.
If I was 10 minutes quicker, I was in the process of telling Steve what he was looking at and before you know it the CA bashing started. The thread probably would of had a different response.
People offering their views or opinions on CA are none of my business, I don’t care to debate it because of the strong views from others it’s a no win situation. For whatever reason you don’t like CA is your business.
All I ask is if your bitching about our emission laws, fruit flies, bad roads, lower speed limits, Mexicans, cost of living, quality control, our political views, taxes, mass transit and whatever I left out is get informed.
As for emissions
Start in 1967 when then Governor of CA Ronald Reagan joined 2 agencys to create the California Air Resources Board, then go on to the Clean Air Act and then go on to the EPA.

Hi, I am new to this forum, I live in Southern California and am trying to find a pre 1995 Prevost bus. I have my eye on a few, 1988, 1990, 1991 etc that are in my price range. I am looking for any help regarding whether or not I will have trouble registering the Bus from another state in California. Thanks for any experience you have regarding this.

a friend just bought an H outa state yet lives in CA. He said he had to do vin verification, and the commensurate sales tax, but he told me CA doesnt emission diesel RVs, including converted busses
I wanted to know because we are considering CA registration for ours coach, 2000 Featherlite XL45 using our Indio address, since Colorado requires E-test annually for any diesel vehicle older than model year 2004. After sustaining $4000 dollars damage from a yahoo emission test shop on our previous 40 footer, not interested in having it done to current bus

I, being from the Southeast also, would like to add just one thing to ExpressBus’s post. While visiting here or living here if you should decide to relocate. Just remember one thing.
We don’t give a sh*t how you did it in California.

I have a 8v92 in Nor Cal and no issues. I’ve never been required to have an emission check.
