2016 California emissions laws
A buddy of mine who is a over the road trucker who trucks in California a lot just received this this morning on some type of device or something he works with. I wonder how long it’s going to be till they shut all of us down in California? What do you California folks know about this or even if it’ll ever affect us with our buses being private ..

In a way I feel sorry for folks living in CA. A lot of freight is moved by trucks older than 2007 so when those trucks are banned from the state there is going to be a lot less competition and the net result is higher costs.
As someone who lives downstream from the prevailing westerly winds coming from CA I am glad the state is looking out for my health and shipping cleaner air my way offsetting the pollution from the state’s various forest fires and burning mansions.
But as someone concerned about how far politicians are taking the clean air objectives I think the state is out of control and the people who live there who keep electing these wizards are now going to pay the price for their visits to the ballot box.

I wont go into CA at all. Will not spend one penny in that state.
One of the most beautiful parts of the country but the CA folks don’t have to worry about shareing any of it with me.
Better stop now before I get in trouble with the censor police.

True Story:
Our company got a contract to supply picnic tables to their various state parks. They specified the heavy 2″ hot dipped galvanized pipe frames and pressure treated lumber tops and seats.
Then several years later CA sued the company for supplying pressure treated lumber that did not meet the current standards for pressure treated lumber. I think the new material did not have copper in the treatment.
The company complied with their specification yet they collected damages because the old material they specified was considered hazardous. It was cheaper to settle than fight. The company will no longer do business with any California entity.
I also will never buy anything from a CA company if I can get the product I want made elsewhere.

Just so ya’ll know, we down here in the Southeast also have some gorgeous scenery and sights. We have the oldest mountains that are “Smokey” and “Blue” if you came I think you would love them too! We have an ocean and a gulf just like you, but ours are friendlier too. The locals treat you as if they have known you all their lives. We also have the sweetest tea you will ever taste. To get unsweet tea you have to ask and it will be supplied along with some packs of Splenda just to be sweet.
Best part is that ya’ll are more than welcome to come visit the Southeast States, just find a wonderful sight and set awhile or move here for the rest of your lives. Ya’ll are also welcome to bring your businesses with you. Hey, you will also be much closer to Jon, Tom and Jeff!

So, the folks that produce stuff in CA can ship it out, but no one can ship things back in??? How stupid is that?
I am glad that we got to go to Californication this summer but, truly, there was nothing there overly exciting. Mostly I couldn’t believe the costs of things or understand how normal people (not the movie stars) live. Couple that with everything being brown because they have no water….. Florida looks better all the time!

Do you have to have your emissions tested there if your just visiting? I have never been to Cali in my bus only on a Harley Davidson with straight exhaust. I wonder what they think about our old “smokers”.

We travel through CA twice a year. So far no issues with our older coach. Just don’t bring any fruit or vegetables (border control stations), don’t travel faster than 55mph if you pull your car, don’t exceed 65 feet length and don’t mind the atrocious roads in southern CA.

Gerald, your post reads like a travel poster from the chamber of commerce. NOT!
CA is a pretty state and has a lot going for it, but to me it represents the rotten apple that can spoil the barrel to the extent the regulators can pass a lot of restrictive laws and codes that seem to find their way into other states. I cannot believe the residents continue to allow the state to continue in its present direction.
