Looking good Jim. Looks like it’s going to be beautiful when completed.

we’ll give it a try.

David,
I posted it at one time (but don’t know where) the data from tests on the Prevost chassis. I know all coaches deflect, but what astounded me about the data I posted was after a simulated multi hundreds of thousands of miles the bus could be supported under the chassis support points and if one support was removed the deflection (or twisting) was negligible. I have seen that in my own garage when I have support stands under the coach and it blows my mind that the engineers made such a strong structure.
But when G man talks about 18K worth of trailer I don’t feel real comfortable. I can think of a lot of instances when that is going to have an impact on the operation of the coach and possibly the structure.

Just to weigh in on (what I view as) a personal preference issue:
I specifically wanted a non-slide coach, as (to me) the added weight, cost, complexity and potential failure point(s) versus the additional space gained was insufficient to warrant getting a coach with slides.
I may be in the minority, but I do think there is a defined market still in place for non-slide coaches.
It clearly depends on the intended use by the owners (is it for a couple, or it is for a big family that may need more space, a part-timer or a full-timer, etc.), but as the supply / demand equation changes, market pricing will adjust (up or down).
Again, just my viewpoint as a newbie..

Tom, no 110v water heater on my 02 Marathon DC panel, looks just like your photo except mine is blank there.
I thought I had thrown the correct AC breaker to kill water heater yesterday but i still have hot water today after two showers, I just threw a few more labeled “spare” (one of the few complaints on my marathon is ac breakers dont seem to line up with labled #’s on breaker door or I am doing it wrong)…prolly one for each hot water heater.
I know Webasto is not on because I did a test the other day to fire it up and make sure it works…smoky at first but ok.
So I am wondering how my coach is powering these hot water heaters now, and how my inverters are set up.
I have inverters set to 7 amp shore power as I am hooked up to a 15 amp circuit right now. I am running one AC, one inverter has been in bulk 2 days the other float, and my techlink shows voltage in the mid 12 and 25 or so when AC running and will get up to 13/26 when no significant power load.
I am wondering if my inverters supplement my weak shore power when needed and try to charge house bank when no big ac loads…

Tough crowd! Even a “certified” and well experienced mechanic can make a mistake. Many have reported here that even the Prevost folks making mistakes. Most of us are human and will make mistakes, even if rare.
I’ve never looked at the bearing housing even though maybe I should have when Prevost replaced one of my seals. I certainly don’t doubt the “tilt” procedure either. It just seems strange to me that the bearing isn’t sitting in enough gear lube when the differential is properly filled to adequately lube a new dry bearing. Whatever the case, the “tilt” procedure must be common in the heavy truck industry as our differential is no different than probably most trucks on the road.
I hope it all works out for you,

Without the diagrams your only way to find the open circuit is to start at the batteries and follow the flow of current until you find where it stops. It is so easy for me to say that, not so easy for you to find it.

Lots of good info, thanks everyone, gives me a lot to think about.
If someone could clarify since I am no Prevost expert, on my coach, a2002 Xl2 40 foot the rear overhang is short, on a Xl 45 of the same vintage I notice the rear overhang is longer.
At Prevost the other day looking at newer (X3 I think) 45’s the rear overhang behind the axles seems to be shorter, similar to my 40.
So did Prevost update this and change it? Any difference in towing/handling/weight carrying characteristics?

Charles, I was the target of your much appreciated generosity. I’m in central Indiana having Corian countertops made, but I don’t think I’ll be here long enough to receive a package. I’ll email you as soon as I pause in my travels. Thank you again for passing on parts to a system I intend to keep operational as long as possible. I really enjoy having all 14 tires displayed on my Silverleaf monitor. Your timing was perfect in that the first trouble I’ve had with the system occurred when I hooked up to my trailer in Tampa and none of the six tires reported in. Obviously, six batteries don’t fail simultaneously, so I was surprised that only two checked in when I cleaned the antenna connection at the hitch. Cleaning the center axle antenna produced mixed results as well, so I’m still scratching my head. I’ve had as many as five check in as I take off, but they usually all go away within half an hour. That would indicate it must be battery problems, but it’s strange that they were all working perfectly before I stopped in Tampa. This has cost me already in that I lost a tread off a trailer tire on my trip north. I’m guessing the tire temperature was above 140 degrees, the point below which I’ve never had a tire problem. My next approach is to start disassembling the sealed sending units and building replacement battery packs, but I’m open to suggestions. Okay Tom, I’ll ask… Does Silverleaf display Pressure-Pro?

For Chris and Christy : I hope the damage was more show than damage! That said: Easy for me to say. Some one else would fix it to insure that it was not a cosmetic fix to get me out of sight. Sure you can later try to get satisfaction tru the legal system if he screws it up again.. BUT….. how much time ? who really wins??? Bus Life is suppose to be FUN!! Hard to find the fun in it when you trust someone to do their job correctly? This guys name wasn’t Joe was it? Bob

email me the vin and I will check into it. Who currently owns it? Where is is it located?

depending on the coach then you may find info through the convertors and Prevost. However the owner should have documentation of service or you need to assume things have not been done. A detailed inspection by yourself and if needed a shop can reveal much.
