Yippee! Got my card today. Can’t wait to spend a bunch of $ on fuel. Easy process and superb service … so far.

I filled up today in Elizabethtown, Kentucky early this morning. I am looking forward to getting the confirmation email.
If this pans out and lasts, I am going to save some serious dough! I have already purchased 2464 gallons of diesel this year. If I could average 40 cents a gallon savings that is nearly $1000 in 7 months.

I do not know how much is involved in TSD processing applications, but I do know there has been a large and steady stream of folks applying just through our site. They might be getting backed up and that might be the delay if there is any.

I Just received my fuel card and WOW!!! Loves truck stop off of Oklahoma I-40, cach price $2.84…with EFS fuel card, 2.24.

I visited TSD Logistics’ office facing I-30 in west Texarkana Wednesday. They have a large very nice building and truck parking lot. Building full of people who are busy busy busy.
They have 115 trucks that deliver carbon black. One wall is full of logos of companies they deliver carbon black to, Cooper tires, Toyo tires, etc.
They are three days backed up from the surge in fuel card sign ups. They are recruiting other staff to help. The president’s secretary is one of them.
They processed a transaction this week in which a card holder received a $0.60 per gallon discount in California courtesy of Loves and TSD.
I was treated to lunch. with all the ladies. I immediately offered to let Jon pay as a thank you for all the great discounts. Gina declined as she knows PC and Jon’s lack of dues money would be too big an imposition on him.
I was told by Joy, the CFO, that TSD and Loves are very pleased with the surge in motorhome sign ups. Loves has shared with TSD how happy they are to be able to introduce a diesel discount to the motorhome market, something Loves was struggling to accomplish.
Every lady, including Joy, interrupted her very busy day to spend time with me. It was a grand time.

This is a good size business that has more functions than just fuel card. The folks are busy because they are successful but not overwhelmed.
The newness of a fuel card for motor homes has produced a surge that exceeds the daily capacity of the fuel ladies. But hiring more ladies to just work the surge is not good business. But using others in the firm to help out is. Once the surge is over, most cards will be issued same day or next day as it has been before the motor homes turned up.
So, busy, busy, busy is a good thing, a successful firm that is not floundering as is Sears for instance.

Earlier we discussed the SSN and I couldn’t figure out their need for it and I don’t just hand out my SSN. I was then told they redid the application so it was filled out on line and SSN was no longer on the application.
I then filled out the application and received a call today to confirm my banking and my physical address to send the card. I was then asked for my SSN which I declined to give. That of course concluded the conversation. I thought since they took the SSN off the form it was no longer requested.
Has anyone had a conversation with these good folks asking why the SSN? Maybe it’s just me but the need of our SSN makes no sense. I like the plan, I like the savings and I like to support our Prevost Community Forum. Maybe one of you can explain it to me? They are not a bank/lending institution and we are not requesting a loan, please explain?

Harry, I have no clue how TSD should run this program, but I do know it provides us with a substantial savings. It also puts them at risk if someone wants to rip them off. I will not share with you on this forum the ways they can end up with an uncollectable fuel bill but devious people can do it. My guess is they want some small measure of protection against theft and that is likely why they ask for your SSN.
If you do not want to provide it I understand. If you do not want them to have access to a checking account I understand.
Ask them it instead of your SSN they would accept a $1000 deposit to hold in escrow as security for a fuel purchase you make the same instant you have a zero balance.

While this savings may not be your cup of tea, when any of us purchase fuel, we are indeed asking for a loan of real money in the amount of the fuel.
TSD is going to pay for your fuel regardless of what you do or do not do. No matter what, TSD is going to pay, period.
Now what can you do to show you are going to be reachable if you choose to not pay? The SSN is the security of hoping to find the right person if someone does not pay, not just someone named Harry.
As always, do what makes you happy. No one is forcing you to enjoy these discounts.

I admit I don’t know a lot of things but I do understand banking and databases and internet even better. And Rudy this is not personal it’s business and my question is a simple one?
Why, I repeat why, is TSD paying our fuel bill? Everyone of us knows how immediate access is to our debit/credit cards whenever we use them. Why is this any different? Why is TSD on the hook for something we’ve given them to take out of our bank account?
There is nothing that is not serious about handing out your SSN. And it has nothing to do about my not wanting to save money for Pete sakes.

Harry, Is your question serious or are you funning with us.
The way this and the Profit Program works is someone who buys a lot of fuel can negotiate a discount with retail fuel sellers. Profit pulled together fuel purchasers from multiple sources, including PC so the collected total of gallons purchased was enough for them to negotiate discounted fuel prices.
TSD Logistics is a trucking company that buys a lot of fuel and it is getting fuel discounts. But there is strength in numbers so if TSD (to use them as the example) buys more fuel than they would buy for their own fleet they have more muscle when they negotiate again. So to demonstrate how much fuel they are purchasing, anyone using the program besides them gets the cards that turn on the pump and lets fuel flow and that card is seen by the fuel retailer as a TSD fuel purchase which is exactly what it is because they are the ones who pay the fuel retailer.
TSD in turn charges the card holder for the fuel purchased, and sweep 10% off the top of the savings to pay for the staff they need to handle payables and receivables and send email receipts and daily fuel prices.
But you don’t need TSD. There is nothing stopping you from paying cash to the retailer or using your credit card. If you buy a lot of fuel maybe you can negotiate a discount because you buy a lot of fuel and you pay immediately. That way nobody needs any security from you. If you drive away without paying the camera at the fuel islands has your entire transaction recorded and you probably won’t get far before the police have you in handcuffs.
TSD doesn’t have anything to make you pay your fuel bill. I’m pretty sure you would never pay the fuel bill for the trucker at the next pump if he promised to pay you back in the next few hours, but that is what TSD is doing for you. Especially if they were to allow you to have a card and no form of security or a way to identify you.

Jon, you and I are in total accord, there’s nothing you said that I don’t agree with. They are offering fantastic savings and we’ve seen that from previous posts. And the 10% they’re asking is very reasonable, so we’re all good.
Maybe I’ve missed something, is the TSD card a credit card? If that’s the case I understand the SSN?
I’ve never thought this program is a bad idea, quite the contrary. Look, I know you and Tom, we’ve broken bread together and I know you would not do anything that is not a positive for this community! It’s the SSN only that gives me pause because I still don’t understand the reason for it. And we all understand what can happen with the miss-use of our SSN, it’s easily the most important numbers we have. I’m obviously missing something and would be pleased to know where I’ve gone wrong?
