the only thing I see missing
compared to the old ones is, they lack having a reflector lens. Grote
#47163 amber and #47162 Red. Ordered them today from http://www.finditparts.com
$18.13 each, free shipping, and a 10% discount off that if it’s your first order.

    They have plenty in stock.

My local NAPA had two in stock @ $23.50 ea. Bought those first to make sure I liked them. Just as Al said, they are bright, and you can see them from all angles.

Good point Jerry on reflector lens. The old lens were more reflector then light for a turn signal application.

Doing most driving in the day time, I want to be seen when changing lanes. Most drivers are aware of our size and many have been courteous to us while moving over a lane. Bus and tow car approaching 65 feet, we do take up lots of room .

The idiots who stay in our blind spot and who knows why are the ones that can spoil our day. With the bright 6 LED

lights we get a little advantage.

I’am leaving my bottom row of side marker lights as-is for the time being.

    Thanks for the imput.

    Al,

I’m going to replace all of mine, I thought about mounting a separate reflector , if I can find one that looks right. I’ll post pictures once I’m done.

Prevost has been using a 6-led grote lamp for years, first on the H’s and then the XLII’s. The version they used was equipped with reflector and had 2 led’s facing out at center, 2 angled toward rear and 2 angled toward front. This is the type I’ve installed on my XLV. Bolt holes are a direct replacement for the old type lamps. I ordered the plug in wiring pigtails from Grote and used crimp on connectors to wire. I don’t have part #’s handy but I could look up if desired, but the newer style 6 led may be just as good or better and appear to be a direct (more or less) replacement also.

My 1994 XL has 5ea turn signals and 5 marker lights down each side that are hard wired. I purchased the lights from Superbrightleds.com for $7.95 each. They have eight LED’s. two on each end and four in the middle. So far hasn’t been to difficult other than needing to replace a few well nuts that hold the light on.(purchased at O’reilly’s auto parts)

They sure are bright! I’ll add photos as soon as I figure out how.
