Turn Signal light upgrade
If you turn on either turn signal each side has 3 (Marathon) or 5 (Liberty) light bar with plastic lenses. manufactured by
Grote Lighting Corp.
On my Marathon the turn signal lights (3) are on top .
The bottom light is clearence/marker DOT approved
Grote 2 bulb LED is installed in both locations part # 47073.
The upgrade is for turn signal replacement with a Grote # 47163 a 6 bulb LED.
I did this change today buying 1 # 47163.
Old 47073 with 2 LED
New 47163 with 6 LED
The 6 bulb LED is DOT approved and is the same base mount, screw holes, wiring plug in.
6 LED bulbs make noticeable attention change to be seen in the day time. Simply put all you need is a screw driver to change over super bright 6 bulb LED.

New Grote 47163 lense cost retail $ 41.56 each with your Prevost Community NAPA Card cost is $20.73 each.
The day time brightness was really noticeable. As probably 90% of our travel is during the day this was an in-expensive safety up grade.
Grote customer service confirmed the voltage and amps are the same. There is no worry confusing any on board processor. in some late model buses.

If the other drivers can’t see the big bus maybe the can at least see the bright lights. Nice upgrade.

I do not know the history of this light or when Prevost started using it, but as a result of talking to Al I found my coach had the 6 LED lights in all positions, both clearance and turn signal on the driver’s side, but the front two rows were the 2 LED lights.
The difference in how visible you are is considerable. With the 2 LED lights you can see them easily if you are looking straight on at the light, but the lighting becomes much less visible as you move closer to the coach and are looking more along the side of the coach. The 6 LED lights however are clearly visible as Al points out in any position within a 180 degree arc. I always thought I had good lighting because even during the brightest of days I could see my lights on the driver’s side in the mirror. The ones that are only 2 LEDs on the passenger side are not visible to me because of how the mirror is set on that side and those are going to be replaced.
It would be almost impossible for a passing car to not see you signal to make a lane change with the 6 LED lights. Good catch Al.
If you have the (presumably older) 2 LED lights replacing them with the 6 LED lights is going to make your intention to change lanes very visible, even in the sunshine.

This light change is actually a Prevost recommended upgrade.
I purchased mine direct from Prevost-Nashville @ $24.55 each, and installed them, as mentioned, with minimal tools, back in September.
Huge improvement and highly recommended for both esthetics and safety!

only had 3, all I could hear was crickets!Last
I heard from him, he was on his way to Napa to buy a Sawzall that
would cut stainless and a big roll of chrome duct tape, he must make
amends…. -
When I talked to Truk4u on the land line at first really believed he had his nose into the Christmas punch a little early. Then I realized he’s telling me that Liberty has 5 lights on each side.
No wonder those Liberty’s cost so much.
It was Truk4u cargo light post that planted the seed to research upgrades in side marker / turn signal LED…thanks Tom
Anyone interested tin changing all the side lights including red here is the part number .

Alvie, I think Prevost has been treating the 2 LED and 6 LED lights as interchangeable according to a post by Jerry on POG.
It is interesting that both sites had this topic at the same time, but I think Al hit a home run with his research, including showing how we can save some money per light via NAPA. Jerry thanks to Al your problem is solved.

On the lense face does it say, Grote ?
If yes, what are the 4 numbers near that name ?
Rodger, Grote also list 24 volt lenses in same design.
Same question…..Is it Grote lense ?

I replaced the faded lenses on my incandescent lights a year ago (’99 XLV) which updated the look of the bus considerably. If I remember correctly the 2 bulbs in each light were hard wired. I did not see a connector outside the bus skin. I guess one would have to solder in the new LED lights. Doable but no plug and play. Did anyone upgrade the old incandescent lights?
