Just my opinion for your info.

I installed this kit but it didn’t help fuel still spurts out unless you fill very very slow.

A good friend of mine told me he opened the opposite side he was filling from to see if this helped unfortunately he had fuel come spilling out the opposite side until his wife came running and told him to stop.

I have a XL 1991 one side fill only Passenger side. I tilt the bus to that side is high while filling. I generally go full blast until it clicks off the I hand squeeze until I see the foam settled and I see the fuel level. I have had many splashes while trying to squeeze in a few more gals. On mine tank the vent line is plumbed so it vents about 6 inches from the end of the fuel fill hole. You can’t see it but it comes in from the top side of the fill neck. All this I can see from inside the 3rd pass bay. I have seen times when I can hear the fuel sloughing around and seen the air and fuel splash out of that vent in to the fuel flowing in.

There is even a cap on the vent hose that I think is made so you can pressurize the tank forcing fuel through to the engine, in case you run dry, God forbid. I have laid awake many nights wonder what the little air valve on the vent line was for and this is the only thing I can think of, plus I have never heard anyone ever talk about it.

We think we found the reason why our coach does the “Double Burp Fuel Back Splash”. I have only put fuel in the coach 2 times since our purchase in November 2017. Both times in the drivers side with the same unpleasant results.

In July we ordered the “Product Improvement of Spillway Use” kit #032413. When we received notice that the kit had shipped we began some fuel tank disassembly. When we got to the “filling hose adaptor assy.” on the drivers side we found that the OEM rubber flapper (kind of a check valve) on the filling hose adaptor was lodged in the adaptor and couldn’t operate as intended. That answered our question as to why our coach back splashed so vigorously when we put fuel in that side.

Just finished installing the “kit” yesterday. We’ll try refueling again in a few days.

Is it possible you could have simply pushed something down the filler pipe and pushed the flapper back into its appropriate position?

Absolutely possible.

Initially I didn’t know what to look for and I didn’t know it was like that until I removed the inner and outer filler hose on that side. On my coach you can’t see the part with the flapper on the drivers side because of the small curve in the inner filler hose. An inspection camera with about an 18-24 extension wand would have worked.

It had been that way for some time because when I pulled it back out it remained deformed in a curve.

Just a suggestion on a tool known as a BORE SCOPE. Sold at most auto parts stores.

The tip on the end has a flexable shaft, TV camera with light. Allows user to look at places which normally requiring tear down or hard to reach.

After reading the above fuel pipe flap issue others could use a bore scope checking if they have same issue.

Purchased my bore scope about 3 years ago. Don’t use it often but worth what I paid saving lots of time. Good ones come inside a custom carry plastic folding case for protection and storage.

That would have worked!
