We are in the same position/era as Will & Carole, being “Sister” ships . That said, been to 3 Oyster Fests at Belle Terre and take NO exceptions to how we were treated, 2nd trip was asked for pic , but it was not one of the usual booking people. When I called after not hearing from them, they were very pleasant and accomodating….will figure on being there again in 2016 (after a day or two in Shady Acres in Mobile)

A lot of Resorts have that rule so at there discretion they can turn away the Coachs that are not kept up in appearance.
-
The problem I have is the rule is clearly intended to weed out coaches that might not meet some standard for appearance. I get that. But if that is indeed the intent then it should say they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone whose coach does not meet their appearance standard.
A friend of mine owns that bus. Perhaps that wouldn’t meet the standard, not because of age, but because of its appearance.

That bus clearly fails to meet the age standard, but it was fully restored and looked as a new bus would look with the quality of work as good as any new Prevost conversion.
Another example of a pristine older coach. This also doesn’t come close to meeting the age standard. My point is age is a poor unit of measurement if the intent is to weed out coaches whose appearance is not what someone thinks it should be and is very subjective.
What would they say if that coach met the age standard? The truth is that the first coach shown and this coach are going to have people walking by it to see it, talk to the owner and mayvbe even get a tour. Our own BCO has an older “iggle” and it looks new. If he wasn’t allowed in a campground that would be a sin.

Jon: What is the device that is raised out of the top of the nicely restore blue and white, single rear axle bus? Is that the dome for one of those really early satellite TV antenna dishes? I think some of those were close to 8 or 9 feet wide. The owner of that coach has really taken the retro thing to the nth degree.

Looks to me like an air scoop to help assist in cooling the engine.

Billie and Dick, that’s exactly what it is on a wonderfully restored late 50’s Flxible (and yes, my spelling is correct). Jon took those pix a few years ago at a Bus Nuts rally in Shelbyville, Tn. We will be attending their annual rally in Arcadia, Fl. Dec 28-31 which has become a New Years tradition for us the last 4 yrs. It is a great place to see some beautiful old Eagles, Becks, Prevos, GMC, MCI, Flxible, Neoplan and the weird and they’re a great bunch of home builders. Anybody interested in attending…Contact Bus Nuts or myself or Corey. Geo.

I think Dick is referencing the blue water tower. He’s being a wise guy.
I’m pretty sure Geo and Corey will agree age is a meaningless way of discriminating in an RV resort because some of these older coaches are absolutely great looking. I have parked next to Scott’s fishbowl and his Silversides (yes he is a member of the two bus club) and both are just really neat buses.
BTW, at the rally those photos were taken there were four late model Prevost coaches meaning those guys that build their own don’t discriminate against those of us with store bought coaches. Although Hardheaded Ken hopped up his early model Angola conversion with a 14 liter Series 60 and a 10 speed.
-
They do not….in fact a couple of them that just enjoy cool old busses (as some of us do wirh cars) have “store bought” Prevo’s also. A good example is Lou who has one of the neatest Neoplans on earth and an 8 or 9 Marathon XLII. Geo.

Hi Geo, being in Port Charlotte, Arcadia is less than an hour from here and this rally soulds like a fun thing to go to and to oogle old buses. Can we just show up and walk around or is their an admission fee “at the door”?
Cheers,
Ronald

Bring your bus, Ron.
The reason a lot of these folks build their own is they don’t want the usual, they want something different. Yours is a perfect example of a conversion that was not “cookie cutter” from the graphics to the interior.
-
Jon’s right, Olivia would get a lot of attention…very inexpensive rally and full hook ups. Geo.
-
Water tower? WOW! That’s alot of water to haul around. But that must really open up the bays then. Intriguing idea.
-
Dick, don’t you have something to do, like polishing copper?
All kidding aside picture the most well done classic car you can, and when you looked in that coach that is the quality level of the entire interior. If I remember correctly it was repowered by a computerized later model Cummins. First class all the way.
