    Tim,

Only Prevost aficionados can tell the age of a Prevost. As far as the ten year rule, of course the park ownership can do whatever they want. Several parks that used to have the ten-year rule are now trailer parks–Pleasant Harbor north of Phoenix is one of them. In August we stayed at a Ft Worth park where I had to send a picture on our coach. When we got there, there were several cheap bumper-pull trailers–not exactly your high-class establishment! Right now we are at LVM Resorts in Las Vegas. They did not ask about the age of the coach, and there are several expensive units here, including several Prevosts.

    Coloradobus,

I have an invite to stay at a friends home in Mesa, AZ. Plan to leave the bus parked at Indio, CA.

Are you selling, buying,or just kicking tires ?

I have never agreed with this policy. I can and do understand what they would rather not have renting a space from them in there park. They need to change their policy in some way, certainly they are smarter than this. As for myself, I am good until year 2018. However my son has his own Prevost that would not be welcomed at these parks. IF HE AIN’T ALLOWED I AIN’T ALLOWED. And as the same with all of us here on Jon and Tom’s great site, we all have friends that dont fit their CRAZY rules. We travel to spend time with our friends, and of coarse make new ones. So as far as I’m concerned they can ALL KISS O’L RUSTY.

I hope we don’t cut our collective noses off to spite ourselves over this issue. I really don’t think any of these places invoke this rule when it comes to a Prevost, Bluebird, Silver Eagle or an MCI. We evidently have have stayed at more places than we knew with this rule and never knew it. When making reservations we just tell them we have a 45′ Prevo and have never been questioned further. My concern goes beyond hoping the 10 year rule does not apply to a Prevost.

I get it. High end RV parks want to present an image. That image is elegance, or quality, or whatever someone deems is tasteful. But the rule as written is easily defeated as to its intent. Does a 10 year old Prevost look less appealing, or classy or elegant than a 10 year old Winnebago? How about an 8 year old Winnebago?

What about the cheap, ugly looking but large motorhomes built for a low price that have as much quality to their appearance as a Yugo, but which meet the age standard.

As a society we make choices. Every one of us does. We select our vehicles, homes, RVs, clothes, etc. to meet whatever our own personal standards are. And yet we are supposed to go to an RV park that sets our standards for us? I don’t think so. I’ll choose what I drive, how I dress, and who I want to associate with, no one else is going to tell me otherwise.

I may be wrong, but those rules are bordering on the kind of discrimination we now have laws to prevent. Those rules suggest to me “if you ain’t one of us, you don’t belong”. That my friends is exactly the kind of rules and behavior I don’t want any part of.

Geo. I agree with you 100%. just tell them another year (if asked). But I dont agree that all parks will look the other way when you say Prevo. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Buddy’s first post. He (Buddy) says they said no to rentals or purchases. So are we to assume there will not be a PC rally at Hearthside Grove in 2016. Please don’t take it, that im trying to beat a dead horse. But I wont attend a rally where my son or other friends are not allowed because of some silly rule. And I sure dont feel like I’m the only one in this boat.

Bella Terra has the 10 year rule, we went through this last year at our rally and it wasn’t an issue. If your making a reservation for a PC rally you won’t have any problems. For the most part, when you say Prevost, unless the person on the phone doesn’t know a 5th wheel from a pop up camper, it’s usually not an issue.

But, Hearthside appears not to be budging on the rule.

I have learned that I get better results when talking to horses by talking to the head than to the feet.

Perhaps this question is better directed to the developer than to a salesman.

Just went through the same thing yesterday with Naples Motorcoach Resort for January, and had to send in pictures of the coach, even though we were there this past January. Though we were quickly and graciously approved subsequently, I don’t like it either, and if we run into this again, I will pass on the establishment that persists. I think if PC, POG, and PrevostProuds could agree to send a joint communique to these businesses with the message that members would be disinclined to endorse or avail themselves of these places immediately, this practice might not continue. Particularly since I and others don’t intend to purchase a new or qualifying Prevost just because our current one reached 10 years age. Agelessness and quality were reasons to choose to put up the scratch for a Prevost to begin with.

    My two cents.

    Just a thought:

The “age limit” issue obviously has struck the “annoyance” nerve. If bus owners numbered in the tens of thousands, perhaps a collective letter to the offending resorts might have impact. But these resorts have HOAs and a simple note to the developer/owner isn’t going to have much impact. Individual owners will have to vote to change their rules.

As long as some bus owners continue to acquiesce and submit the obligatory demanded photo of their coach for a resort association approval or disapproval for entry, I believe the ten year age limit policies will stand,

    I

In order for any group effort to make change, there must be collective cohesiveness.

Do as we do, don’t like their policies, don’t beg admission

Looks like I will be staying at a different resort next time I go to Petosky.

I have stayed at the Signatures resort before, not as pretty as Hearthside but acttually more convient when going to town because you don’t have to fight all the traffic on Hwy 31. Hwy 31 on the west side of town is far less congested.

It is also above the marina and a large hotel complex down on the water front.
