If you use the white bulbs behind a red lense the light comes out looking pink and not red.

Great question. The LED bulb folks say it has to do with better transfer of the light through the lens as they are close to the same color temperature. Logic suggests if you are replacing a clear conventional bulb with a white LED that the light transfer would be about the same. They are the experts, so it’s hard to argue their point. As a side note, many of the purpose built LED fixtures have clear LEDs behind their colored lens…

These, from SuperBrite work great and are easily installed.

Hey LED guru’s….I am going to make the change on the top markers front and back, and the side marker turn signals soon ….. If I use the same lens covers about how much would I be saving? I think it was Charles that said they clean up nicely with polish.

Hey Charles and PC folks….just making sure understand the LED idea…if the lense is red, get red bulb, if amber get amber…etc….is this correct with the LED changeover?

That is correct. Use Red bulbs for red lenses, Amber for amber lenses and white for your Back up bulbs.

Replaced amber side bulbs with leds from superbrite and old bulbs are brighter. Am I missing something?

Did you end up with 24v bulbs for a 12v system? On my Liberty the outside lights (vinatge GM P/U) were festoon bulbs, is that what you have?

I just swapped all of the rear bulbs to leds using your suggested part numbers.

The swap just took a few minutes; and the parts matched perfectly.
