Big Job Tom, been there.
When I did my first set Jon came to the house and did it for me. What a guy!!!I would like to make a meaningful comment now. Make sure you can hear the medium in the centramatics flowing freely.. I am on the road now and today I had to visit a tire shop for 4 hours to find a balance problem that was driving me nuts that developed two days ago. Turns out the medium that is used in the Centramatic balancers was stuck or clumped or something that was/is preventing it from moving and working. I had the centramtic removed and equal placed in the tire – Life is good again.
Hopefully Centramatic being a sponsor has a representative monitoring this fourm and will be able to contribute with a reason why the Centramatic failed..
Does anyone know what the life expectancy is of a centramatic? What’s the warranty? What,s the trade in value of a bad one?
The tire place did not work for 4 hours – more like an hour but there were a number of delays. Phone ringing, customers asking questions, boared meetings, BS sessions, pizza, and paperwork 87 bucks later I got a smooth ride again..

Centramatics has a 5 year warranty. Hopefully you have saved the defective balancer. I’ll get ahold of Centramatic first thing in the morning.
Sending you a private e-mail Roger, so we can get your out of pocket expense handled.
Recall Jon, had found a defective balancer on a routine bus barn inspection.
AL
Roger, can’t send private e-mail unless you open e-mail on your profile. I’am open so if you can e-mail
me your phone number.

Centramatics had a period of time where a factory problem caused some balancers to fail after a while. The reason I know this is because when working on my coach one time with all wheels off I found one on the tag wasn’t flowing as Roger experienced. I contacted Centramatics, they found based on the date code and other information from the device that they were sold to Liberty as original equipment. The warranty period had expired but the Centramatic customer service guy admitted they had a manufacturing issue since corrected, and sent a new set to replace the defective balancer.
Good customer service and problem solved.

Parts due tomorrow, finding 5/8 and 3/4 DOT fittings for the bags has been a challenge, but got it done.
Found a surprise… Passenger side had 2 airbags in the wrong position. Had a 259 bag on the rear drive and a 260 on the tag., reversed. I swear they’re original…..
Old parts ready for the scrap yard..
This is what your two 5 ports look like on the bulkhead front of drive axle..

Tom,
Wish I had known you were in the middle of a project…..we were in the Atlanta area yesterday…..
Are you replacing brake chambers and leveling valves while you’re in there?
-
In a previous post on this thread I posted about a Centramatic problem.. Before Noon time yesterday I recieved a call from Mike Hagar of Centramatics offering assistance and Remedy!!!
Centramatic is a First Class Company and I am sure PC is proud to have them on board the forum!!!I was/am impressed.
Thanks for the the super quick response. I won’t forget it

Thanks for the feedback. It is really good to know we have great companies advertising on our site and that when we recommend them we can be confident they are going to do a good job.

Tom, you ought to be ashamed. I looked under Jon’s bus at Branson and all of his 5 port valves where not only spotless but “CHROME PLATED” really sparkled. so come on get with it.

FYI – The front air bag line on my vintage XL2 drive axle is 3/4″ and the rear drive bag and tag bag are 5/8″. Those large DOT fittings had to come from Grainger, local parts places including Napa didn’t go that big.
Front drive bag is 3/4″.
Rear drive bag and tag is 5/8″.
