Les, That is exactly the one we have and it works great! Have had it for about 8 years now. I’m sure now that I’ve mentioned it, it will fail as soon as I get back to the bus! But I would be this model again in a heart beat.

Tom, mine is about 8 years old too.
Since we hook up at a bunch of old Ag Center electrical outlets in our travels to dog shows, the quality of the power is always suspect. A good surge protecter that includes protection from bad grounds, floating neutrals, low voltage, etc. has saved us multiple times.

Just bought one myself. Had a issue back in the summer when a park we staying in (army corp park) dropped a leg and all 3 cruise aires quit. Didn’t hurt any thing but it never hurts to have a little more protection.

Here is how I look at it, you decided to purchase a Prevost, with that comes a certain responsibility and sometimes a cost to own the best. When it comes to minimizing electrical issues, you want to protect your electronics and want to use the coach with less problems. Many coaches advertise that they have surge protection, but it is normally not adequate and does not protect against bad wiring issues at an RV park pedestal, like open neutral, open ground, reverse polarity or low voltage.
The best all around protection for the money is Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C. They typically can be found for around 3500, but it is excellent insurance on saving 10-20k on replacing electronics. Don’t waste your money on a lessor one, and I would suggest that if you have something already, get rid of it and purchase one of these, this will be your best purchase for protection, regardless if you coach has built in protection or not.Disclaimer: this information is free, however, after you purchase one and you go to a rv park and when you plug into a pedestal and you get an error on open neutral, just remember, I saved you at lest 10k. I know you like your CC built in device, but to suggest spending 3500 for something that is not needed doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Each Converter does things differently such as my Marathon. The Marathon procedure is to first plug in with the main breaker switched off and verify you have 4 green lights on the built in power monitor. This monitor looks for shore power problems, gnd, neutral, short, etc. If 4 green you turn on the breaker. My understanding is the power monitor is also surge protection, but not certain of that. For that reason I use the less expensive Progressive surge protector that sacrifices itself in the event of a surge.
For what it’s worth, I’ve never heard of anyone with a problem with the lessor expensive surge protector, while I’ve heard many stories of issues with the expensive ones having to be sent back for repair or replacement.

I have to identify myself as somewhat cynical about surge protectors. I already know price is no assurance something will work better than something else.
We have a whole house surge protector. About 3 years ago one evening we were watching TV and from the TV enclosure we heard a bang, a simultaneous flash of light, and then the unmistakeable smell of an electrical problem. The TV went off. The satellite receiver went off.
I checked the breaker and it was still on so I turned the TV and the receiver back on. Both worked, no problem. But there was a problem. The TV enclosure also held all the house audio equipment. We first realized the TV was not playing through the speakers in the room. Then we found out that not only was the big black box that handled all the audio inputs and sent the sound out to the rooms that it was toast. Literally. It had a hole blown through it like a welder had struck an arc. So did another device. Several others just did not work.
The system surge protector in the enclosure that was supposed to protect the equipment was blackened, and when you shook it it sounded like a baby rattle.
Bottom line is over $5000 worth of electronic devices has been exposed to a surge, either from lightning in the area or some other electrical surge. Neither of the two surge protectors protected.
I suspect if bullet proof vests were to perform as my surge protectors did I can be glad I am not depending on one.
But I still use my surge protector in RV parks, mostly because the lights confirm everything is OK.

We live in a world where when can not predict what we will experience. Most people do not purchase flood insurance thinking they will never need it, until the day when you house gets flooded and your regular insurance does not cover water damage. Just like owning a Rolex watch, which is supposed to be serviced every 5 years and cost 5000 each time. If you are going to buy an awesome machine like a Prevost you have to expect to spend money on things that others may not deem unnecessary. When you have to pull your check book out and write a check for 18k, then 3500 is cheap. -
I understand your point Greg, but my point is I had a very expensive whole house surge protector and the AV equipment also had a surge protector on the circuit used by the equipment which was the typical Lowe’s off the shelf surge protector. Neither worked so the quality of something like the surge protector is not necessarily related to the cost and unless and until Consumer Reports tells me otherwise I really am not in a position to make the blanket statement that since one happens to cost more it can be assumed to be better.
BTW pholosophically we do agree in that if we are prepared to spend serious money on a Prevost, then we should not flinch when we find we need to spend a few dollars to maintain it to high standards.
