Reese, At the age and mileage of the coach it is reasonable to expect it to be a no-issue coach. I would insure the skins get inspected. A check of the air system would be wise and if any moisture comes out of any tank a deeper inspection should follow. If records are available it would give you peace of mind and possibly save you money if you could confirm the coolant and Transynd have been serviced. Other than that I can’t think of anything more than a general pre-purchase inspection.

I have a “Star Coach” it’s perfect for what I do with it. One other consideration is that “entertainers” seem to have the black & grey tank dumps on the curb side while most MH’s have them on the driver side. It can be a little bit of a PIA for me to dump (and use the “full” hook-ups) at some campgrounds.

You know why they do that don’t you? My guess is they pull to the side of the road onto the shoulder. Now the bus is tipping slightly to the passenger side and if nobody is looking the tank gets dumped onto the grass.
I hope I am not giving you any bad ideas.

I’ll bet that Jon’s Liberty has curbside dump. Now making any accusations … just sayin’ … just stating what is probably a fact.

As a matter of fact Liberty coaches may all have either side connections. On all my coaches I could hook up electric and water to either side, and my 06 also has a dump on the curb and street side. I have never used the curb side dump, and I relocated the macerator discharge which was at the rear curb side and put it on the street side ahead of the drive axle.

A lot of the Vantare’ conversions have dumps on both sides. My curb side dumps were removed and a large full coach rinseable water filter was fitted in their place. Water inlet from the water bay goes across coach to filter then back to fresh water tank.

Jon has to be the ONLY guy who has made a modification to his macerator plumbing. I can’t imagine anyone else doing that. He obviously want to put his “stuff” in the right place!

The macerator does not need 25 feet of additional hose because that is what it takes to route it to the rear of the coach. The closest logical point is in front of the drive wheels to insure the least distance to the hose connection. The macerator has a limit to the length of hose.
When I have had to use the macerator is has not been the lack of a proper place to drain, but because the drain pipe in the ground has been raised and to empty the tank without lifting and draining the 3″ hose multiple times it is just easier to pump it uphill. I believe some local plumbing codes require raised drains in campgrounds as a means of preventing ground water from entering the sanitary sewer. Conventional RVs with holding tanks and drains sitting higher than our coaches work fine with the raised drains.

Jon just added the automation to the Rose Petal dispenser on the
macerator as Liberty took a coffee break when building his coach and only installed the Rose Petal automation on the driver side. Since he got all the air leaks fixed and does
not have slack adjusters to polish, he got bored and installed the automation. -

Big Al, we are going to have to have a talk. I don’t like it when two Marathon guys get together to pick on Liberty guys, but fortunately we can take the abuse. I know Truk (no-slide Tom) is there in the background.

Jon: You can’t call him no slide Tom anymore…we all know he is looking for his next last coach with slides. I suppose for now he can be no slide Tom, but I bet not for long…..

In my tool kit I have a cell phone (flip phone actually) that is used to just call someone to fix my coach for me.
