Manufacturer says Red Hose good for 500 degrees, Blue Hose good for only 350. Also Manufacturer says to use only T-Bolt clamps.

Worm Gear and Constant Torque (CT)

Constant torque T-bolt style clamps may help to retain clamp load.

Torque to 70-75 in – lbs.

Note: for Charge Air Cooler Hose(CAC) use only T-bolt style clamps.

Recommended bead specifications are MS-33660 or SAE J 1231.

From time to time mistakes are made and one of them was Prevost had been installing blue hoses from the turbo to the CAC, and then the red (orange) hoses from the CAC to the engine intake.

It wasn’t until one of our members posted some photos of his CAC repair that I picked up on the error. What turned out to be frustrating was that member got a lot of grief when he asked to have the hoses placed in the correct locations. The usual answers were given in defense of the error. First he was told that is what the bill of materials calls for. Then he was told that is how they had done many CAC replacements and never had a problem.

The point is this is not the first engineering error that has been recognized, it probably will not be the last and while mistakes happen, what is not acceptable is for customers who report such errors to be treated as lesser people because they opted to report the error.
