Have you considered having power at your storage spot as your first priority as opposed to being under roof? If you have that option it may be a better option for the short term. Jeff

Hi Jeff,
There are probably 15 motorhomes, 10 5th wheels and 10 trailers at this location with no power to any of them. I asked if I could add power to my site and was politely told no.
They have standard AC power on the adjoining wall to my spot, it’s their workshed, and I’m going to see if I can negotiate something with that. Maybe a heater and trickle charger? I have a good relationship with the owner so maybe I can work something out. The main thing with them will be “we have no way to monitor how much power you use and what you owe”?
So we’ll see,

I didn’t want to side-track your other tread but if I were you, I would store my coach at the Resort you mentioned in NC at least during the frigid months. I’m sure you could work out a monthly rate.
You wouldn’t have to winterize and you would not have to put your coach to sleep. Everything would stay charged up.
Just a thought.
Before I found storage in TN, I parked the ‘Elegant Lady’ at an RV park. It was very cold in Feb. of ’15 (in the teens and 20’s at night for weeks) and the systems worked beautifully. It was certainly a good test for the coach.

Harry: I was going to suggest the same thing that Mark suggested. Winter is probably a slow time for the campground and they’ll cut you a deal. Plus they’ll have the finest looking luxury motor coach in western North Carolina in their park.
Another options is the place you park your coach now. Talk to an electrician and the power company what it would cost to “create” a separate 240 volt service for your coach. It wouldn’t surprise me that other “tenants” would want the same thing and you guys can get a package deal on the split services and dedicated wiring. You’ll have the upfront cost and then a small monthly charge.

Ask Jeff at ETLC what it would cost to have 100 amp electrical installed as he just had it done. I will pretty much say it will be $1,000’s and $1,000’s.

If you have a really, really nice bus and don’t mind if I use it regularly, I’ll gladly store it our heated garage when we are not traveling in it…

The park wants $595 per month as their normal rate and I doubt they would get down to an amount I’d be willing to pay. Unless Tom and Jon would loosen up on some of those dues they seem to enjoy so well?

$595 per month for November, December, January, February and March is a little less than $3000.
I don’t know that for sure, but I would guess it would not take much of an oversight trying to winterize it to end up with that much damage to the coach. Having said that even if an RV park was giving me free use of 50 amp service and a site to park the coach there is no way I would want to risk power going off or a heater failing or some other issue that put the coach at risk, especially if I did not have daily access.

Victor, that is a very good idea and I thank you for it. I have no idea if Jeff will go for that but I’ll sure ask?
I especially like the idea because I can get there in less than 2 hours and could go up ever 30 days when the weathers nice and take if for a good run. The weather in Vonore is very is similar to Murphy.

See my post under “Valley River RV Park”. + Check on the bus regularly when it’s cold outside. Have the park call you or call them if power goes off. I’m in the same area you are, plugged in, water tank full, water bay heater on, two small electric heaters inside, bath & galley cabinet doors open. Only difference is that our bus is inside a storage unit. Have stored RV’s for the winter this way and using water line antifreeze for years. Never had a problem down to about 15F.
But now we head to Florida. Much more gooder.
