I’m confident we all have squeaks and rattles but we all are probably a little hard of hearing also.

Having said that however I will admit to being sensitive to noises and whie I freely admit I have noises from the subtle sound of the lamp shade making its unique noise when the coach hits an expansion joint, or the rattle of dishes from pot holes, the chassis is silent.

My coach noises are only present on roads with a certain surface that come and go as the road ages and gets rough. I get the crash bang of expansion joints, pot holes and other bumps and that translates into sounds relating to the conversion. Shower doors aren’t designed to dampen sound, so I hear things like that when the chassis is hit with a bump in the road.

But what I never expected and what still awes me is with 2 slides I imagined the chassis or the slides moving within the chassis would be a source of noise and there isn’t a sound. No noises of any kind associated with a chassis that had two big holes in it and a moveable room centered in that hole in the wall.

On the manual Zip Dee awnings you can practice and wind that loop up so it is short enough that it does not flap around. At the very end of the roll pull slightly to one side or the other to take up the slack. Be careful and make sure you leave enough to get ahold of next time you want to deploy.

After having two SOB’s with slides that were held closed with hydraulic pressure, the Prevost slides on our XLII are a significant change.

I really like that the slides are held in place with 4 or 6 steel pins that are around 1.5 inches in diameter. It looks like something that a bank vault would have. When the pins engage, I get a comforting clunk that tells me the slide room has become a structural part of the semi-monocoque superstructure.

The need to have a window or door open when moving the slide was also very revealing. In my old coach I could see daylight between the slide and the wall. Not with the Prevost slides…

Like Jon, I am in awe with Prevost slides, and their contribution to chassis stiffness.
