Squeaks and rattles
I haven’t seen this topic addressed in other threads . If it has, my apologies for the redundancy
Do older Prevost buses (eg (10-15yrss) develop squeaks and rattles as they age?

1999 Liberty XLV. 113,000 miles. Driving it, I can’t hear any. Once in a while if the front end porpoises (which doesn’t happen much since we put Koni shocks on the front at about 75,000 miles) we’ll hear squeak in the front suspension which I think is a large bushing made out of a plastic-like material. When we’ve been traveling on the road for a few hours I’ll pull into an Interstate rest stop to use the enclosed commode in the coach. The engine is of course set to high-idle and using the features of the enclosed commode I do notice there is a little squeak at the rear of the enclosure that I think is caused by two pieces of the air door in the enclosed commode structure which the engine vibration at high-idle causes to rub together.
Where do you live? We’re traveling from New Braunfels, TX to El Paso to Albuquerque to Colorado Springs to Cheyenne to North Platte to western Iowa either side of I-80 to Walcott, Iowa and back to Milwaukee … the Good Lord willing and if the creeks don’t rise! If you’re along the way, we’ll stop, give you a ride, and let you hear for yourself.
Keep in mind this is a Liberty Coach … others may have different experiences. But probably not much different. A newer coach should be as good and can’t get much better.

Our Coach is a 1994 Chassis 1995 Royale conversion. It has no squeaks or wind noise. The front suspension does cry some times when I hit a crater size pot hole in the road or bad transitions going from pavement to a bridge approach, Tennessee is the worst. Sorry Jon.

2000 Marathon, just turned 190k miles, not one rattle or any wind noise.

Mine was real quite got cochlear ear implant now I hear window blinds unless there are up or down

Anyone that says they don’t have rattles or squeaks doesn’t drive much or has the radio too loud.
With this years potholes, not exclusive to TN, I am hearing all kinds of noises. But I admit to being spring loaded to listen for sounds that would indicate a problem so maybe I am not tuning out the normal sounds like dishes rattling or Di screaming at me. (Oops, I do tune her out sometimes.)

We keep our 1yr Dutch Star (yes, considering a Prevost for our next coach) in Vegas, while we live full time in Chicago. We travel to the DS and use it in the SW during winter; and more northerly in the summer months
We’re in Vegas now, back to Chicago first of April; then back out here in May .. for trips to Arches and then Heber Valley near SLC

ha … I have bilateral cochlears since 2009 and know what you mean about hearing every little bit of noise, especially air coming out of ducts!!
Mine are programmable and sometimes I use a setting that filters out ambient noise and focuses more closely …that really cuts down on road noise and makes the cabin quieter. Do you use that?

I’m envious. At 20 years, we have quite a few squeaks and rattles over bad roads. The coach is quiet on good roads. My tire pressure is set at +10 psi of recommendation which does not help.

Jon, I’ve put 20K miles on in less the 15 months we’ve owned Al’s bus. I do have to admit that every long once in awhile I’ll get a squeak out of the left driver blind mount on a rough road. Other than that she’s quiet going down the road, talking about the bus, not Judy….

I put pipe insulation foam on my front windshield window shades and toll booth shades to keep them from rattling.

We drove 323 miles from New Braunfels, TX to Fort Stockton, TX.
I told me wife about this thread. I asked if she could hear any rattles or squeaks I was not aware of. She mentioned three things:
1. When we first got the coach, once in a while we’d hear some rattles. We ended up attributing that to the dishes, pots, pans, silverware, settling in the drawers and cabinets onto the Liberty installed carpeting in all the cabinets and drawers.
2. We discovered if we didn’t seat the leaded crystal wine chalices and leaded crystal “on the rocks glasses” that Liberty Coach so thoughtfully provided into the CNC routed Lexan holders properly they would “rattle” into place after a few miles.
3. The manual Zip-Dee awnings have a loop that is used to open and close the awnings. When the angle of the wind against the coach changes or when we pass a semi sometimes that fabric awning loop will snap against the coach and make a soft, muffled sound.
Those three plus what I posted earlier … that’s about all we hear other than some wind noise and some muffled tire noise depending on the type of pavement we’re running on.

After I installed the new Koni shocks on the front the couple little noises went away, My wife’s 1st impression riding in the bus compared to the Foretravel was how quiet it is inside driving down the road. My buddy has a class A 34 ft gas motor home and his wife said they can’t talk while driving because it is so loud in it.

No squeaks or rattles on my girl. When I first bought the bus there was a crackling sound above the top left of the drivers window that drove me nuts. I pointed it out to Jeff of ETLC fame and he fixed it up in no time.
If I go over potholes and the like it obviously makes a noise but not of the squeaks and rattle type. I’ve been in other coaches gassers and Diesel that were very noisy even on smooth roads. I’ve not ridden in a Bus other than my own and assume other buses are as quite or quieter than my own.
