From Beijing and a long way from an eclipse we hope for clearing weather. Have fun.

Sorry I could not make it to this rally. Not only that, I had to work at the clinic on the 8th! I did manage to schedule lunch to straddle totality and Susie and I drove the Jeep (quickly) to Big Cedar, OK and we were fortunate to have clear window through the surrounding clouds for 3 and a half minutes of wonderful totality.
Grabbed a couple quick (amateur) shots with my phone. First a panorama showing the sunset colors of the horizon and second a shot of totality with some red solar flare activity visible.
Unlike Driggs, since we were at a parking lot by the side of the road so we did not get to enjoy the crickets and roosters, but did see a bat flitting around.

Hey Doc, sure missed ya this time. We had perfect weather at Hot Springs and a great time. 8 coaches were able to make it to the party, hopefully some one can post some pics, I’m afraid I forgot to take some……

A big thanks to Dan n Judy hosting the rally at Catherine’s Landing. We had a plus to the rally location besides “totality”, friends i worked with in Yellowstone National Park during my tourbus driving experience live in Hot Springs. Wayne was my dispatcher and his wife Laurie was Head Tourguide. We hadnt laid eyes on each other since the mid 80’s. When they came for a visit late afternoon after the eclipse, they both squeezed the stuffing out of me.

Thanks so much to Dan and Judy !! It was great to see old friends and meet new ones. It was wonderful of you both to do the planning and make this event happen not to mention the incredible breakfast and tequila. I never really got a straight answer on who put the dinner together, but it was very generous, delicious, and appreciated. Thanks to everyone responsible.

The Wanderlodge folks are holding a Mini Rally Dec 27-Jan 1 if anyone is interested I can share the details. Location is Dead Horse Campground in Cottonwood AZ. Plenty of sites are avail.
