My 2000 CC had the aux compressor/tank and purge behind the front bumper and the purge button was in the first bay curb side. That purge valve had to be cleaned often to keep it working. The alternative was to replace the purge valve with a manual drain valve.

I will look to see if my CC is so equipped, my gut feeling is no. Either case I think it prudent to install. Certainly would help to have at least chimpanzee arms, both length and strength as my compressor is waaay behind the front bumper blade. My shop compressor has some kind of a timer and it purges every few hours when in use. My humidity in AZ runs between 4-11% most of the year and the shop compressor still manages to spit out a few teaspoons of water each time; can only imagine the Deep South!

The best verification a water trap or dryer is working is after a week or so of use where the humidity tends to be more than in the desert is to check for moisture in the accessory tank on the bus. That is easier said than done because you cannot get at it without it being in the air or over a pit, but it verifies your system is being protected or not.
Once you know the system to trap water works then you just have to periodically drain all the tanks at your service intervals.
I know some coaches have had so much water in the tanks that it took so long for them to drain Jeff would take advantage and take a shower.

Flyu2there, I had Jeff Rowe install a water separator for the aux air on muy 1999 CC and he installed a Norgren as Jon described and I was surprised at how much water it really does capture. Well worth the expense.

Andy….Yes, a good idea indeed. Also Truk’s CC had it, and I have it, a solenoid valve on the aux compressor air tank at the H2O drain. I suspect yours has one as well with a switch in RH forward bay labeled something like “air tank purge”, mine was gummed up but it was a quick fix once I borrowed a chimp from the zoo to reach the damn compressor. I think that drain is every bit as critical as a line moisture filter as a rusty tank can cause all manner of grief, water probably the least devastating when compared to tank failure (kaboom) or rust flakes, dust etc blowing about in your air system and valves, although the moisture separator will probably take care of most troubles until it blocks.

Yes, I also have the remotely operated compressor purge valve as well although it is not working consistently right now. I do have a manual valve ahead of it that I am using in the meantime. I could use one of your chimps as well to repair it.
