Jon can you explain the difference between “Service records and Service information”?

Greg, in the contex I used the two phrases they can be used to mean the same. Prevost has a coach’s service history (by serial number) on an Excel type file. It does not go into great detail, but it gives dates and a phrase or two detailing the service issue. That is the service history. I asked for and got that when I bought my current coach.

What is absent however is the “rest of the story”. I have no information as to the detail. I have no work orders, no copies of detailed invoices or list of parts or labor.

On the flip side the current owner of my last coach has log books of all work ever done on that coach during the 8 years I owned it. The logs are complete including part numbers. Additionally I have maintenance records that keep a running record of when scheduled maintenance was done, and when it is due next. That I consider service history also, but it is also service information because there is enough detail to to enable him to buy replacement parts or to know to what extent a repair required.

I agree with Tom, my information is between me and what ever vendor it may be. If I am selling my coach I would have all my records in order for review by a perspective buyer. If I did not have it together I agree the policy is reasonable on Prevost behalf is fair.
