Hello,
The Capitol Police clarified that they did not use Tear Gas, BUT did use Pepper spray gas, which looked to everyone the same as tear gas as it causes a gas in the air.
Pepper Spray gas is used to cause severe eye irritation. I really don’t see the difference is using tear or pepper gas on peacefull protesters. Really Un American!!

Jon, I agree with you…the small percentage of those on the left and right who are causing the violence and damage should be prosecuted to the extent the law will allow.
But the vast majority who are demonstrating peacefully should be allowed to without interferance.

And who is stopping them? Other than the intellectual elite who have told us what we can say and not say because someone’s feelings may be hurt, last time I checked we all had the right to speak our minds and gather and peacefully protest.
The bigger question is why do we keep identifying each other by our differences. We are all people. Let’s accept that fact and move on.
It is not as bad as it once was, but at one time on the CB it became crystal clear a Prevost owner was a rich bastard who made his money by cheating others and we were the target of hate. It did not matter than most earned their Prevost the hard way by sacrificing and working hard, creating jobs, often helping others a lot, but that was either ignored or unknown and just because we had apparent success we were resented and disliked.
Humans sometimes aren’t too bright.

Intolerance, Hate and Bigotry are words we have witnessed somewhere in our lives. They are not things to strive for or allow in our family or our community. But we know that everything and everyone is not sweetness and light, kindness and truth. And as we know this, we also know there are times when even well intended people can cross the line.
I am a law abiding citizen, something I share with others here on the forum. There are times however when others don’t share those values. At those times security can be for you to handle. I like to believe that my entire body’s a weapon. But on those few occasions when my body drops to defcon 0, there is a good feeling that comes from the knowledge of protection. Gun, pepper spray, baseball batt or hot saucepan of pasta. They all work and all protect me and my family.
Its like shopping… Anywhere you shop you pay 3 to 5% because of theft. I don’t steal but I pay the 3 to 5% because others do! I believe in law and order but others maybe not so much. I can’t do anything about the 3 to 5% on purchases but I can do something about the security of me and my family!

It seems overall no one is stopping the peaceful demonstrations. The only issue seemed to be when protesters were gassed in Lafayette Park, across from the White House.

David, I am not in a position to accurately judge the actions of others, including the protesters or the people you say are gassing them.
I do suspect there are a lot of actions on both sides of this issue that are stupid, hateful, and completely inappropriate.

I was not aware that that occurred. Barr had ordered it earlier and it wasn’t done so they finally did it. Trump was not even aware of it. He wanted to go to that church and do what he wanted to do.. So what was wrong with that
HE IS THE PRESIDENT AND WILL BE PROTECTED. THE PROTESTERS WERE OUT OF ORDER. IF YOU WERE DRIVING YOUR BUS IN THAT TRAFFIC AND THE PROTESTERS WERE JUMPING ON YOUR BUS AND DAMAGING YOUR BUS.
WHO ARE YOU GOING TO CALL, THE COPS OR THE PROTESTERS?

We need to drink disinfectant and stand under UV light to ride of the politics. All I know is that in times like this we need to take care of our family’s as best we can if it’s not from covid it’s from an angry mob. Crazy times we live in. I am a disabled officer and I can tell you it’s a very difficult time for law enforcement now a days. But again if an angry mob stands in your way of travel and starts damaging your bus you won’t have time to call the police best you can do is defend yourself and family by any means possible you better believe if they pull you out of your bus like they have done to many truckers it will be a life or death situation.

I don’t agree with that at all. There’s been very little politics on this thread or on our forum. This thread has little to do with politics and a lot to do with reality and security. One would have to be a fool not recognize we’re in uncharted water with a pandemic and rioting going on. A conversation about security is not just topical it’s prudent! But I can understand from my precious post when I said “hot saucepan of pasta” could have thrown some under the bus” Under the bus… Come on that’s funny right there!

I cannot speak for Tom, but I am letting this thread continue because Harry nailed it. The protests can impact our security and we need to be aware if those of us who are traveling may get caught up in some of the civil unrest we need to be aware.
This thread has made people aware they need to be planning their trips to avoid the violence and vandalism.
If it starts to get into a political discussion where one side or another is getting criticized if Tom doesn’t shut this down, I will.

Yep, no politics boys, stick to security. As an ex police officer and military, beware of your surroundings, avoid potential hot spots if possible, but if all else fails and you feel your life is in danger, lock and load. Remember one thing though, you can’t use deadly force over property, only fear for your or another life.
