I agree, Jack’s experience of having 5 year old Lifeline’s in good shape after high heat conditions pretty much sums up the AGM heat concern.

Gil,
The Acurite monitor is working correct, resetting each 24 hours of low and high. Yesterday the number were 77 and 90. I have my bay fan set to come on at 90, so seems to be working out OK.

Tom, The set up for batteries, must be different on the H models, you have seen mine, the 8d batteries are on passenger side next to the engine, and the group 31s are in the next bay, which is a electical bay, and they have a cover over them I guess to keep gas that escapes from harming electrical fittings, it is not vented and gets hot, Liberty put Dekas in when I bought the coach 4 years ago in march, I also am changing out my batteries to Lifelines this year, the compartment that houses the group 31s definitely has no way to put a fan in to cool anything do you think this will come back to haunt me with the new batteries, so far I have not noticed any corrosion on the terminals but do put the red stuff on them, by the way my appointment has been changed to March 10th at Prevost J-ville, at which time the main room slide will be repaired and the wabasto, I will stop by on mywayhome mid April to have them install the new lifelines, I will call you as soon as they check the generator battery to see if its 31 or group 24, give me a call or e-mail me and let me know when they will be shipped to J-ville, Gary

Jack: FYI, I have upgraded to twin 3500 watt Outbacks and 6 8D’s and I am not a ‘pole to pole’ RV but my compt IS ventilated with cool side air and I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Joel,Aren’t you in Havasu, one of the hottest places in the country last summer,it is interesting to hear the difference in your temperatures and mine as yours draws from the side and not from underneath.I have added a fan and thermometer for the batteries just to see what the temperature is on a hot dry camping day.I assumed wrong about your inverters and batteries.

Gary,
Contact me by phone or e-mail when you figure out the gen battery.

Jack: It is hot here and I regularly use the coach for dry camping up to 100F. Over that, the cruise-air’s crap out but I have OTR. I’ve never actually checked batt temps or inverter temps because I’ve never had an issue, even when it may be 90-100F and I’m recharging batteries at max rate…no batt, inverter or allen bradley issues.

I have been in 104 degrees one day and 103 the next day in Lexington Kentucky, the first day was tough as I arrived in the afternoon with a hot motor, transmission, tires, etc.it took until the sun went down to get the coach where I like it (72 or less). The second day the Cruiseairs would maintain 72 degrees and I was in a field with out any shade.Cruiseairs will do ok up to around 100 if they are all clean and charged correctly.I had a conversation with one of the techs at Liberty last year and he told me that to get a cruiseair to perform at the maximum they must be vaccum pumped to 200 microns or less before charging,I did not even know what a micron in vaccum was so I had him explain and he showed me a micron gauge that Yellow jacket sells and I now have one,I have since vaccumed pumped 2 of my units to below 200 microns and both picked up diffirential. He also said another interesting statement, the old units that have not had the compressor replaced shure are cooler than the newer units, and the newer compressors from Tecumseh do not seem to last very long.
