The plated parts of the mirror assembly, could and should be made of polished stainless steel, their price implies that quality.

    Just sayin, JIM

    Ramco,

Mine shake all the time and like I said previously, every Prevost I’ve had has the mirror head shake. I have had Velvac in fiberglass coaches and they did not shake.

The bus is ultra smooth, no vibration, the mirrors are tight, all fasteners from the mirror to the arm and then to the bus body are tight. All you have to do is just tap on the edge of the glass and you can feel how loose they are. No adjustment in mirror manually or by the motor’s will improve the shakes.

I have even now resorted to taping electrical tape to the mirror edges fastening to the mirror head and that doesn’t help much either. Others have stated the plastic motor assembly with the glass attached is the cause of the shake, everything is loose in the motor.

I made an Iphone video of the shake yesterday on our way home that shows the vibration, but it doesn’t reflect just how bad it really is. My bus is a 2002.

I had new mirrors put on our coach in early 2013 due to both issues under discussion, shaking and flaking. Was not happy after install of new mirrors and shaking had made no improvement whatsoever!

My bus is older, 95/96, so I figured the peeling and flaking was due to age when I purchased my bus in 2008. It’s certainly not very nice looking.

I will say this. I broke the ball cup in one of my mirrors the first day I had the bus. The cup holds the mirror in the arm. I called Remco to order a new one and they sent one at no charge. I insisted on paying but they refused to accept my payment. They did not owe me that at all.

OK Andre you can have the job of fixing all our mirrors now. We should be home by the end of september so that gives you plenty of time to fill in the holes you dug up around my house and then get ready to fix my shaky mirrors.

And get rid of that damn armadillo !!!!

Just a follow up to keep this thread alive. There is no response from Ramco. Maybe we all should send emails to the powers-that-be at Prevost to let them know how lousy the mirrors are, and to see if there are alternatives.

Buying new mirrors to replace defective ones is just rewarding the folks who sell lousy mirrors in the first place.

Good job with the follow-up Jon. We were on a small trip with our bus this weekend and the jiggling mirrors reminded me of this thread.

    I wonder where Ramco is?

Ramco is hiding in the weeds. They know of the problems and until faced with the loss of business or the costs of repairs you can bet we have seen and heard from them for the last time. Individually we aren’t that important to them, but my guess is if we all take a few minutes to urge Prevost to stop using their mirrors (with copies to Ramco) we might begin to see alternatives.

Go as far up the food chain as you deem appropriate. Prevost lists a whole bunch of folks and I am sure if it makes sense the president of Prevost would like to hear from us.
