I move mine from time to time too, wouldn’t want them glued.
If it were me, I would find a rubber seal, with a self adhesive strip, the correct thickness, mark where the mirror needs to be, and then move it and put the rubber seal where when the mirror is in the right place, the soft black rubber seal would hold it still.
You can get them all widths, and thickness.

About 14 years ago I had the displeasure of talking with the then
new owner of Ramco. It seems her father who
started the company had died (or retired) and she was now in charge. I tried to discuss the chrome-peeling
problem with her, but she was adamant about not doing anything for any owner of
mirrors out of warranty, and a second owner had no status. She had a very belligerent attitude and felt the
plating quality only had to be good enough to get the mirrors past the
warranty expiration date. She wasn’t interested in doing anything for any owner
who had a problem beyond that.Having owned a manufacturing company with a chrome-plating
operation I understand the process and when done properly it doesn’t peel
off. If I remember correctly Ramco at
that time was having the housings made and plated in Asia somewhere.Being away from the products for so long, I have no idea
who owns or runs the company now or if the company exists today. If it doesn’t, its understandable! -
I am currently involved with a lil bit of a saga with Ramco.
Needed new glass and a base mount, they had the base, but arms and mirror heads werre back ordered several weeks, was told (I think) due to waiting on chorme plating…hmm.
Anyways, glass and mount show up but no mounting bolts as I requested, and the convex glass was wrong. Bolts sent with new convex glass that was also wrong, to be fair they overnighted correct convex glass and sent call tag to send wrong ones back.
Get it all mounted up and the mount is wrong, the bolt hole for arm is in a slightly different location than my original and now I have a gap between the body mount and arm.
I sent a lot of photos to Ramco and they are looking into it but do not think they have another one…by the way the one I recieved had a pressed in stop pin inserted, my original did not, I pulled it out as they said it would not be an issue.
At this point I am about to give up and let Parliament sort it out when I am there for some other work…maybe send the bill to Ramco.
The guy I have been dealing with in customer service has been very nice and is helpful but I am either really unlucky or they have some issues going on there.

“or they have some issues going on there.”
I believe we have a winner for the understatement of the week/

Triple mirrors, heated, built-in turn signal, with side camera is standard equipment on the upper tier Monaco RVs. They are supplied by Velvac
The also have a well known history of crome flaking on the base mount and occasionally the arms. One RV’er owns Space Coast Plating and his company has rechromed more than a couple of dozen mirrors for Monaco owners. Everyone has been very pleased and the company will stand behind their work.
Should you decide to have your mirrors rechromed, you might want to consider them.

That’s what I’ll try again Jerry. I used the rubber pipe insulation for A/C lines, but the sticky didn’t hold, so I’ll try a different approach.
The bus is smoooooth, but what causes the mirror to shake is the cheap plastic motor that the glass is attached to as Al pointed out. The shake is caused by wind turbulence, not the mirror itself shaking. At least my chrome is good.
-
I had one replaced due to peeling and glass replaced in the other one due to the heating element not working. Since Prevost knows of the shaking problem and can’t fix it, why not go to another vendor for the part??
-
I’m surprised that Prevost would put mirrors on their buses and coach with at least two known problems.
What is more surprising is that Ramco could probably solve the problem pretty easily:
1. Go to a better plating process.
2. Replace the plastic gears with bronze gears (or whatever the best gear assembly is).
These are world class buses and coaches which should have world class mirrors and sub-assemblies installed from day one.

Stand by. And be nice. A customer service representative from Ramco has just registered, I sent his password and encouraged him to discuss this issue. Since we all want it solved, let’s see if we can all help Ramco help us if he posts in response to this thread.

Good… maybe 9 year old mirrors can get a free replating !! according to the previous owner they have been peeling for years… that’s just NOT good enough !!

Good afternoon,
My name is Mark, I work for Ramco in customer support. Thanks to everyone for sharing your concerns. There is a lot to address here, and I will do my best to help everyone. When I can, I will post/address the two main concerns. As I am not directly involved in or overseeing production, I will need some time to gather/verify any info to do so. In the mean time, for specific concerns/issues requiring immediate attention, please contact us at (800) 321-4819 and ask for Mark or David. You can also reach us by e-mail at customerservice@ramco-eng.com (for Mark) or dgary@ramco-eng.com (for David). We are the only two in customer support and I shared this thread with him. Thanks

“Good… maybe 9 year old mirrors can get a free replating “
In your dreams Larry! ROFLOL You’re too funny!

Mark, Thanks for jumping onto this issue. Just so you are aware of some information about why this thread may be important to you Prevost Community is the largest group of Prevost enthusiasts and the site is open for all to see with no barriers.
We are getting in excess of 1500 unique visitors per day almost all of them Prevost enthusiasts. On this site you are reaching a large number of folks who have Ramco mirrors. Based on the thread I imagine a significant number of people who view this site or who are members would like some repairs to their Ramco mirrors. I don’t think you should limit the folks at Ramco to your partner in Customer Service, but perhaps you should share it with the company president and on down the food chain. The measure of a company is not always how perfect the product is, but how the company responds when a product or service has a defect.
-
Jon, I’ve already shared this with top right on down. We all just want to get on the same page before trying to tackle the issue. I just wanted to make sure if anyone had a more individual/specific issue they could reach out to us directly.

Thanks. The comments on this thread are pretty accurate with respect to the two major issues that EVERBODY experiences. Poor or fragile plating on the heads that lead to corrosion beneath the surface of the plating followed by the plating losing adhesion. The arms do not seem to have that problem, but the plating appears thin or looks like it is wearing out after time.
The second issue apart from plating is the mirror itself shakes and vibrates. Not always, but often enough to cause most of us to start wedging something between the edge of the mirror and the inside of the head. That doesn’t look very Elegant on coaches costing 7 figures plus.
