Perhaps pressure from the convertors would be taken a bit more seriously? Or even some large fleet operators? Anyone got their Rolodexes handy?

I am pleased to have gotten a response from Prevost’s president, Gaetan Bolduc who has passed my email (which included a link to this thread) to his purchasing and engineering depaterments.

It is up to all of you who are unhappy to express that to Prevost also.

When we first proposed this site and sat with Prevost representatives the advantage seen was this site would be a good source of feedback to Prevost from its conversion owners. This is a great opportunity to underline our displeasure with what has been an ongoing nagging problem.

I don’t find this news very encouraging if our new coach has vibrating/shaky mirrors. I would expect every component on this new bus to be of the highest quality as the price tag sure is!

I always wondered why some people cover their mirrors. Our Monaco Velvac mirrors shake a little on very rough roads but not too bad. Our chrome looks like new and it never crossed my mind that the chrome could fail.

Hey all, just want to say Mark at Ramco has been great with helping to sort my issue, and we just spoke last week.

Interesting when we pulled the glass to hook up the heated element I did not have right at Parliament and re atached I have less shaking now, hardly any really.

Anyways Mark mentioned to me that higher ups are informed and working on a solution, these things take time so I would not discount Ramco yet. I gotta say they really took care of me well!

    MM,

I think Camping World wants to see all of our mirrors covered but for the life of me I cannot figure a valid reason for doing so. But every year all the brand new motorhome owners run out and stock up on every knick-knack listed in the CW catalog.

But your concern about the mirrors is valid. One thing a web site such as PC does well is to make all readers aware of a problem. Prior to access to forums the only way any of us could exchange praise and complaints was when we ran across others in a campground who shared our feelings. Today we are part of 1200 plus members and many, many more who visit daily so all of a sudden problems we assumed were isolated to our experience only are now coming to the forefront as universal problems. That is why we always encourage everyone to post. The more our members post the better informed we all are and once we as a group recognize a need collectively we have a better chance of filling that need than we do as individuals.

Now that you are aware there is a problem, and the problem is universal you are in an ideal position because you can wear Ramco out getting warranty service through Prevost. Those of us that are outside the warranty period have to employ whatever other methods we can come up with, and if that involves making some noise with Prevost, so be it.

    G-Man

It sounds as though you were at Ramco. I’ll be honest in that those of us that don’;t have the time to go to SC for service shouldn’t have to beg for help which never comes. If I thought a trip to SC would cure my problems I would see if we could have a rally in the Ramco parking lot. Maybe that’s what it takes to get their attention. It sure would be a lot easier having them deal with replacement of parts on my mirrors than to struggle with it myself.

MM – You will have this problem with the mirrors at some point, it’s only a matter of time. Hope you express your concerns to all that are involved, it may help us that are way down the food chain.

I hope we hear from Ramco, my past experience contacting them fell on deaf ears.

    Tom,

I’m not excited about spending time at the Prevost shop fighting over shaky mirrors but I guess I’ll either get to know Prevost Nashville and/or Prevost Mira Loma really well.

My hope was that we would buy the highest quality coach with the most robust parts so that I wouldn’t have to deal with low quality items.

I just don’t understand why Prevost Car in Canada would want a known defective product attached to their coaches (from what most all of you are saying).

I hope that we get a good set. I would rather be spending time meeting all of you at a rally, not being stuck in a Prevost service center parking lot.

    Jon,,

I like the idea of mirror covers when stopped for any length of time. Not so much to protect the chrome but to keep birds from roosting on them and crapping all down the mirror arms.

Big Al had a temporary solution while in Indio last winter but he failed to provide those covers to use when we purchased. Based on that solution, I may have to hit the Ron-Jon surf shop and pick up a couple of T-Shirts!

    T&B,

I cannot remember ever having a bird sit on my mirrors and poop. Seriously. If big Al told you that he must have been parking near a village of pigeons.

What our mirrors really need is some magic coating that gets dead bugs to slide off with a little water. Bird poop is not the issue on my buses.

We were in central OH last week on I-71 and we ran into a swarm of bees. You cannot believe the noise of a gazillion bees hitting the front of the coach all at once. I doubt if there was an inch between the splatters. Then when we got a chance to clean the front of the bus I had to deal with so much sticky clear goop that must be what honey is made from that I had to go over the front of the bus twice. The mirrors were a special challenge because the bee bodies were wedged between the two mirror casings, in the arm opening and that would have been when a mirror cover would have helped.

Jon, Ramco is up in Elkhart, IN center of the RV universe as I understand it….think I drove though there once and have to go to Napanee sometime soon so maybe I will stop by, everything I have done with them has been email/phone.

    Jon,

As crazy as it sounds, I too have had problems with birds, (crows and robins) pecking at their reflection in the mirrors during the spring.

I had a mirror arm broken off our Monaco this June while camping in a parking lot at a casino. It was replaced by the other driver’s insurance company. Hopefully there is a picture below. The head, glass, heater, motor , etc are still good if anyone needs parts, I would be happy to send it to them. Here is the Ramco order numbers if it helps: MONAC3416

Twice in 6+ years we have been attacked by birds. One place they attacked the rub rails on the sunny side. Rubber snakes laying by the bus took care of that and they moved to the shiny metal covers over the window awnings. I actually threw a rubber snake on the roof to keep them off.

Another church they attacked the mirrors and messed all over them. I hung a snake over the mirrors and one bird attacked the rubber snake. We were in the country that week so my daughters Ruger 10/22 took care of that one. I am not confident enough to shoot him off the mirror but I spooked him to the fence then I picked him off.

You guys must be hanging the bird feeders off the mirror arms.

    Hello all,

I do apologize for the wait (some of it is because of me, as I took a week off to visit with family). I saw quite a few posts from the last few days, and I just wanted to let everyone know we are still here and working on these issues.
