Jon, did you replace them because the didn’t work? If they still worked, did you notice a big difference on the new units? The new units still take R22 I guess?

We have reached the point in life where we just do not want to deal with issues if we do not have to so both the house and the bus got perfectly good working parts and systems replaced. The house is 20 years old and everything was working, but at 20 years problems could be expected so the heating and A/C systems, well pump, water treatment system and HW tank were all replaced.

The bus celebrated its 15th birthday so it got all new lifetime LiFePo4 batteries, all new Cruisairs, and had within the prior 2 years gotten air bags, Norgrens, shocks, brake chambers, air dryer, etc.

On previous coaches I had Cruisairs start to experience trouble around 15 years of age so I now believe the coach and its systems are going to be trouble free for a while. Ever since my first coach, and having experienced part and system failures I used my own experiences and those of others to arbitrarily replace parts or systems at a certain age or mileage to minimize or prevent surprises. By replacing perfectly good parts at a predetermined age my experiences with my coaches has been excellent with almost no on the road failures.

My original Crusairs and the replacements perform about the same with the temperature differentials being about the same.

R-22 is used in the replacements and AAP indicated it is still readily available and to date, nothing else offered as a drop in replacement is as efficient.

    Drivfour, John,

I’m curious, did you obtain the new radiator core from Prevost or another source?

If you don’t mind me asking, if not Prevost, where?

Why just the new core and not the whole radiator?

    Thanks

Scrubbed the end first to clear the core tubes then took a long ty wrap which was near the right thickness and width and pushed it thru all the channels. Flushed several times to get the scrubbed particles out. Did not want to spend that kind of money for core unless there were too many restrictions, but there were none. All passages finally cleared up. The long tywrap has ridges for the lock, which helped.

    Chip,

Did you run into any difficulty removing the caps from the idler pulley? I was going to replace mine, but I can’t get the cap off – tried many methods. Thanks for any insight.

    Mike
