Prevost Mega Rally. Who’s up for it?
Hi Everyone. You may have noticed a side discussion in another thread (under ‘PC Growth’) on how great it would be to see 100 or more Prevost coaches in one location as used to happen ‘back in the day’?
A couple of people have already responded that they too would like to see something like that happen and I have kinda volunteered to kick things off.
Before any groundwork starts, ie getting other Prevost-related parties/groups interested and way-before determining a suitable location, I thought I’d start by canvassing PC members first on their potential interest in attending such an event.
It is obviously very early days, but as a ‘national’ event, it would be ‘big’ in every way and be inclusive for every attendee; older or younger, for him and for her, tailgaters, beginners and old-hands alike.
As for timescales, probably no sooner than 2017. So, who’s up for it? (not asking for voluteers/organisers yet, that’s the next step, along with ideas on what else such a rally would/could include)

I’m up for it and will help to the extent possible, but 100 coaches is not enough. I’m serious. The minimum needs to be at least 200.
Let me put this in perspective. When we participated in 200 coach rallies put on by the Prevost Prouds I doubt if they had 1000 conversions in the country and I have no clue how may Prouds members there were in the mid 90s when there rallies took place. But the number was significantly less than our membership. So assuming we have no less than twice the number of members as there were coaches converted at that time in the entire nation it seems we can do far better than 100.
If the number can be 300 then a lot of people will attend just to be able to see the spectacle of 300 Prevost coaches in one spot at one time.
Aim high.

Jeez…. 2017… might be dead by then ( kidding of course)… how about 2016 ???? Sounds more hopeful… don’t think one can plan anything easily for 2017 would probably fall apart in the making.

We would be very interested in not only attending but I will assist in some way. Considering the wide range of demographics and attendance numbers mentioned by Jon, our best shot to succeed will be to hold this event in late spring or early to mid summer.
The dynamics of this event as thrown out thus far is very intriguing. I believe Provost owners regardless of their converter, any organization they belong to or even if they have no affiliation would enjoy it emensly. A Provost Family Reunion with Prevost, converters, vendors and and organizations involved would be awesome. I can’t wait.

I think 100 Prevosts anywhere would be a BIG deal for all. It would need to be pitched by a different name than PC, that way you may get a more positive response.
All Prevost National Rally, just a thought.

My thoughts exactly Tom. An event held under no single group name other than Prevost.

couple of things that would probably help in getting those numbers to one place.
location and time.
location – make it at a location central. the more central the more you have a chance of drawing from both coasts at the same time.
time – shoulder season. putting it in the middle of a season (winter or summer) means people would need to upset their seasonal destinations. putting it in the shoulders would mean people could catch it in transition. april or october?

To organize this through PC will fail because, regardless of how this is being explained, the other group will still see this as a PC attempt at dominizing the field. Then we have certain hostilities to consider between certain groups.
IMHO, this may only ever get off of the ground, if it were to be organized under the official umbrella of Prevost.
If Prevost would agree to float the idea out to all the groups and then look for volunteers from all the groups willing to work on putting this together, then it may have a chance.
All other efforts will very likely fail.
Just look to the lukewarm response to this thread from this group. The group is 1800 strong and we have not even gotten a 1% response to this idea.

I unfortunately agree with Ronald. The antimosity amongst folks in any large group is and can be restrictive. I gave been in this group for a long period of time. I have learned a lot from a lot of members. I have picked up a lot of opinions and I am thankful for everyone of those opinions. The informative positive members will absolutely go out of there way to help with anything.
The question is, is it even remotely possible to get PREVOST behind something like this. With the increase demand again in the coach marketplace maybe it would be.

I really have mixed feelings about what I am about to suggest but here is a possible solution. FMCA has been putting on very large rallies for many years. They have many locations where they have had thousands of RV’s in attendence and a lot of experence in putting on large complex rallies. I have a couple of questions for the collective to think about.
1. Is any member of PC also a memeber of FMCA that has been part of organizing a large FMCA rally that could give us some information on this as a solution?
2. Would PC members be willing to join FMCA to be able to attend a FMCA sponsered rally?
3. Would using a already scheduled FMCA rally be a way to piggy back on the work they already do to put on a large rally? We would just have to coordinate with FMCA to get a section set aside for all Prevost that attend.
A lot of vendors and manufacures already attend FMCA rallies due to the large number of attendies.
The one thing I would not do is create a PC FMCA sponsered chapter.
I would think that FMCA would be intrested in any group of bus owners that has 1800 members. maybe FMCA could put out the call to ALL Prevost groups with the idea for large Prevost bus rally. That way FMCA not PC is the point of contact.

Two very sound ideas. Keep the suggestions and input coming. Also, please add your name to the thread as well as if you are interested (no committment!) in attending if this gets off the ground.
Concensus at the moment is early or late season, 2016/2017, somewhere central or possibly tagged onto an existing FMCA rally.

Isn’t this something one would expect the Prevost Prouds to put on?

I understand that 2017 seems like a long ways out and in some ways it is but in my line of work and for a lot of folks 2016 is already planned and full at this point. Depending on time of year and location I may or may not be able to attend in 2017, but it is definitely interesting.

We’ve already discussed this concept with Prevost and the quick answer was they were reluctant because of the high expectations once they become involved. This would have to be a combined effort of all the groups with their principals or officers. In my opinion, that’s where to start, because if they’re not all in, it won’t work. If all the groups are in, that’s the horse power needed to go forward.

I agree with Tom. Prevost is perfectly positioned to take the lead. They have a marketing department that could work on the logistics and put the rally together. They have practice from the NASCAR rally they are doing now, albeit on a smaller scale. For even the Prouds, PC, and POG to work together to put on a 200 to 300 coach event would be a huge undertaking that coudl probably be beyond the combined capabilties of those three organizations.
Prevost could plan on having a rally ever other year.
Otherwise, if one or more of the three I mentioned above did something, I could see it starting out modest in size (with a limit on number) and then building year by year as the expertise, experience, and kitty increased.
