Pressure Pro Pulse – TPMS

I received some information from my Distributor regarding Pressure Pro.
In a few weeks, they will begin getting a new sensor in stock that changes the temperature spread increments from the current 40 degree’s to 2 degree’s. They call it a 2 degree resolution verses the 40 degree resolution. This is good news for new purchases, but won’t do anything for the current Pulse owners, unless you want to spring for the new sensors.
Also, the older 16W Monitor (Legacy Monitor) will be phased out over the next 12 to 18 months and will be replaced with the Pulse.
So if you’ve been thinking about a Pulse System, wait a couple weeks and I can get you the new sensors. I’m sure this will make Jon giddy.

Pressure Pro and Nitrogen in the tires and you’ll be good to go!
We have a Nitrogen Generator at our shop in central Mass., If you’nterested in filling your tires we’d be more than happy to do so…It’ll take about an hour and our shop rate is $105./hour.

Just my luck, I buy a new Pulse System, and it’s already outdated.
After changing out my inside drive Pass side, and making another trip, it does the same thing. This time, got up to 230, and all others 150.
The hottest I’ve seen with heat gun is 172, I’m thinking the brake may be dragging slightly because it takes a couple of hours into the trip before it heats up. Also, I have Centramatics, which may be acting as a heat shield and must be keeping the heat off the outside wheel.
Tom, can you mix the new sensors with the old if I just want to put those on the drives?

I don’t have the TPMS system (yet), but I think I understand some limitations everyone needs to be aware of.
I seriously doubt the system is actually measuring temperature. That is not a criticism, but a point that needs understanding. Whether a coach has all sensors mounted on short valve stems or in the case of duals on valve stem extensions there is no way to accurately read a temperature inside a tire.
What I think is happening, and what i think requires each owner to be aware of is that Pressure Pro likely has some very sophisticated computing taking place and may also be using “benchmarks” when the system starts up to do calculations of temperature based solely on pressure and pressure rise. It may actually be comparing all pressures within the system to more accurately isolate an unusual pressure, and thus temperature rise.
We as owners however will have to do our part. Different issues will impact the calculations. Dragging brakes, low tire pressure or defective bearings as examples can all cause temperature rise. All are dangerous and all are going to create heat in completely different ways which may affect how the Pressure Pro calcualtions and system works.
To use the 172 degree temperature reported above I have never seen any hub or tire temp anywhere near that value. Something is wrong. But will the Pressure Pro see that as an issue that it alerts on or is it below a threshhold that has been arbitrarily selected? Until there is a complete understanding i would urge all owners to continue to monitor temperatures the old fashioned way to develop an understanding of the system, its accuracy and how and when it reports items that should be known to a driver.
I mentioned it previously that certain patterns emerge over time. From monitoring my tire pressures and temperatures I have learned what tire, wheel and hub temps I should expect to see when I do a walk around in a rest area immediately after stopping. When I install the Pressure Pro I will continue to monitor temps and pressures manually until I learn the patterns I can expect on the Pressure Pro so an alert can be treated as an expected event, or an indication something is wrong. There is going to be a margin of error and that is what needs to be known.

Tom: Will the new sensors work with my older Pulse when I replace expired sensors with new ones in the future?
Jon: I also use an IR gun to check temps at stops. Very helpful. I’ll bet smartphone owners will have an APP soon to check temps while sitting on the potty. Sorry.

Jeff just installed a Pressure Pro along with new rubber. After moving about a 100 miles to a campground and not moving for a few days, this morning, it is announcing two low pressure alarms. Jeff and Allen set my pressures at 90 (tag) 95 (drive) and 110 (steer) based on the weights measured on Jeff’s lifts. This morning, here at the campground two days later, the alert is showing 87 on the road-side outer drive and 87 on door-side tag.
Would it be wise to put a small amount of teflon tape on the valve stem to prevent any possible leaks? Tomorrow morning before we leave I will once again inflate those two offenders to the perscribed pressure, but I’m very uncomfortable with new-tires and new gizmos and low pressure alarms all at one time!

I had new tires put on last year as well. I upgraded to the 365s on S & T and put new 315s on the drive. After I left Jeff’s, my pressure pro showed a loss in pressure on one of the Drive tires. After stopping at Love’s, I learned it was an old valve stem that the tire guy didn’t replace on my drive tires. Had I known, I would have told him to replace all the valve stems for new ones (365s are all new because new rim/tire upgrade). Cheap peace of mind.
I also use my IR gun during routine stops or when I see my psi significantly different between tires. Great little tool.

I have had a substantial amount of success with the “fill thru cap” valve stem caps I have been using for about 10 years, maybe more. It functions as a double seal and small pressure losses have all but been eliminated. When I install Pressure Pro I have a serious concern about air loss and I intend to check the sensor installations with soapy water to verify they are leak free.
As to the problems reported we are in the time of year when daytime and morning temps are significantly different so during installation and programming the time of day is going to play a role. A large drop in temps from when the sensors were originally installed could result in a drop in tire pressure.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Pressure Pro. My concern when looking to get a tpms was the loss of air thru the stem sensor and for that reason I looked at other systems that didn’t have stem sensors, because on my coach the inside duals are a bear to air up. I chose a system that has the sensors mounted inside the tires and so far no complaints. The up side to the Presure Pro is the ability to adjust your parameters,where as mine are set during installation which can only be changed by the installer and also the ability to replace the batteries or sensor without breaking the tire down.
I’m of the opinion that there is no perfect system, so just having something that can monitor both pressure and temp from the drivers seat is better than nothing. Just my 2 cents….

Leaking sensor seals is a thing of the past. I would bet money it’s due to temps. It’s happened to me as well, cold brings down the pressure and sets off the alarm.

I’m not sure what the price of the Pressure Pro is, but the system I have could have been pricey and for the difference in price my system is not that much better than the Pressure Pro to merit having unless you’re concerned with the stem mounted sensors…

If you put new tires on you should always put new valve stems on period , no matter what , and clean rim off .
Tom , why is a leaky sensor a thing of the past explain please ?????

My coach is for sale maybe the best XLll rolling down the road nothing to do but drive it all things new , tires and batteries and all motor parts the best shape , house is the best shape nothing left just drive it , delam done top and bottom air is tight no leaks what so ever , if it needs something I will pay no worries what so ever , but it needs nothing period !!!!!!!
