Pre-trip inspection
Apologies if I have posted this in the emergency section incorrectly. This time I was very lucky with no emergency. At the end of a 1000 mile trip, I noticed a tread separation of about 4 inches on the right 365 steer tire. As I parked and shut down, the defect was at 12:00 or top center ( see pic ). Any other position and I would have missed it and been back on the road. Tire is 14 months old with 6k miles. Has anyone else had a defect that looks like this? Is it as dangerous as it looks?

Haven’t had a defect like that but is is leading up to a total failure. I suspect Michelin will replace it free, and you souldn’t drive it if it can be helped. Michelin has a phone number you can call for issues like this.
Maybe Tom can help with that?

Looks exactly like what happened to 365 we rotated from steer…don’t do it anymore. Geo.

And now for the “rest of the story”. I’m in Breckenridge, CO. Made a phone call to Michelin One Call at 3PM. They would have had someone at my location from Denver in a couple hours (80 miles). I told them, no emergency, since I was safely parked in a RV resort. Arrangements were made and I had a new 365 installed in the morning by a very professional service, A&E Tire of Denver.
Michelin One Call and FMCA advantage program is really top notch along with the excellent service providers they associate with. -

I have had that but about 1/2 inch long on the wear bar just like yours , it lookes like yours is on the wear bar two , did u have to buy new one or did they replace it for free

I had the same thing happen to front passenger 365 on my 2013 X3-45 less than 8k miles Michlin replaced the tire no hassle.(possibly a bad run of tires?)
If you put your fingers in the tread over the flat spot and pull it out you will find that the side wall is also seperated.

Sorry if I missed it in a previous post but can you explain what is required to use the One call service? I have registered for the advantage program. Is there anything else a owner needs to do?

They don’t even know what the Advantage Program is when you contact On Call, all you need is Dupree’s acct number. It was crazy when I researched this, the various Michelin programs haven’t a clue about the other programs.

We noticed this bulge in the sidewall of our passenger steering tire. Not going to take a chance, replacing both steering tires but they were difficult to locate, local tire shop had 0, and had been back ordered for some time. Fortunately found 2 at Prevost in Vancouver, delayed for our return home for a few days while we wait, but would rather the delay than potential of blow out, especially in the mountains! FYI tire codes are 34/13
