I would say your decision was very wise. The premature replacement of a tire is very cheap compared to the potential risk. Michelin should be contacted and given the opportunity to pro-rate the cost of the replacement tire, Yours were well within the age range they support.

No, but I believe the belts were going on two years. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it to ensure its not something else.

Great catch in spotting a seemingly minor little notch on a belt. Having spare parts on hand made this an easy fix and peace of mind in uneventful travel.
Why do I carrying all of this junk in my bus… ? You just proved how important a pre-inspection is and then having spare parts.

I have had road debri, rocks, pebles, rubbber pieces get in belts before and do similar damage.
